Legends of Prince Edward Island [Folklore and History Documentary]

Canada’s island province is filled mysterious locations pregnant with age-old legends which even Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne Shirley would be hard-pressed to improve upon. From haunted coves and mystical ponds to phantom lights and monsters of the deep; from chilling tales shared around the hearths of Scottish and Irish farmers to ancient traditions orated by the flickering light of Acadian and Mi’kmaq campfires; here are a few of the many colourful legends of Prince Edward Island.

  2. Great show…something that would of been far worse neally happened on the Canadian coast at the end of WWII that would of changed history for ever and Canada would of been at war with the US..When the British Navy were docked at Canada just after the war had finished American Military commanders were planning to attack the British and Canadians..A top US naval officer was meeting with a Canadian politician to see if Canadian government and leaders would side with us British and join the war if the British Navy was Attacked….the Loyal Canadian people who I class has my Canadian brothers and sisters would side with us British well the majority of Canadians and beleive it or not even some French Canadians would side with us Brits has they knew America wanted Canadian land and resources…he passed on what he had learnt to a secret meeting of American politicians and there leading military high ranking officers…they decided to send there highest ranking Naval officer to see what ships the British had docked and he concluded that the US navy couldn't beat the British Royal Navy and go to war with Canada and the other commonwealth nations after loosing so many Americans in the war….he knew the American people had lost many family members in the war and the British and Canadians would possibly push south in to the South and take states so war was avoided….yet this is not common knowledge but it's true….American politicians were scared the Commonwealth would become to dominant has Britian had captured German scientists and they would produce nuclear weapons…just think how the world would be now if things had been different

  3. As much as I enjoy good story telling, yours are a unique and well versed selection of historical references that many can escape into. Thank you so very much for all you do. Really appreciate your way of telling a great collection of mystique that delves into folklore, supernatural and historical tales of the Canadian people.

  4. Very well done. I believe there is a kernel of truth in these old tales. Sad that our contemporary folk discount them. By doing so many sometimes imply that our ancestors were liars . This I find
    very offensive.
The fact a tale has been told and retold over many generations lends strength to its credibility.
It does not undermine it as our
    modern skeptics seem to infer.

And with that thought, I must
fall off to sleepy bye land. Good
    Night you ancient mariners.

  8. i normally can't stand human narration (crass commercialism, low application) i guess the canadian accent made this work well enough, thanks for sticking to culture that you can represent with some integrity and concern, because it makes for a more meaningful tell. "whoever would have thought someone could make canadia interesting" 😉 <3
