  1. Hi Dan, have you ever seen a model of the continuos welded rail train? It appears in the NsModeler24 about a year ago… Its is an amazing model to replicate… I love to see a video on how to do it, let alone an amazing train once its done… Just an idea on a real modeling challenge… I love to see how its done. Great video as usual, thanks for sharing πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Dan from New Zealand. About your ballast problem at your board joints. I had similar problem. I cured it by laying down paper towels or tissues across the joint before I laid the track. Once the ballast us down you won't see the Ballard joint. If you ever need to disassemble the layout, you just run a sharp knife asking the joint to cut the paper. Love your work, your weathering is astoundingly good.

  4. It's the love of the hobby. Buying and selling. Scratch building and kit bashing. Just kit bashed a few 40' domestic tank containers used by EXSIF, Quality Carriers, and Schneider National. Walthers undecorated 20' tank container kits are used. Make sure its 40' so it fits in the well car or on a spine car. They make great stand ins until somebody makes a RTR model. Putting graffiti on one side of the freight cars is a time and money saver also.

  5. I remember all those lease units around 2005. One January day with single soffit temps the crew had the trailing unit shut down. They crawled into Decker siding only to have the leader shut down! Thankfully the crew taxi was there for them to hop in and stay warm. Love the videos Dan! Will be great to see a train run.

  6. Great update video Dan!! You have made weathering an art form! This winter I'm gonna try weathering my first cars … coil cars similar to yours for my steel mill theme. Just received a PanPastel Rust & Earth weathering set. Someday I might come visit … live close by in Parma.
