In this video, I will be doing some late season scouting. We got a bunch of sleet, ice, and little snow and the ground has been covered for a few days. This is a good time to get in the woods and find travel routes of deer and mark them for future use.

I was out doing the same thing today
Im doing this all day tomorrow
I live in northern Indiana. We get snow every year. I like the snow to scout on, if it's immediately after season closes, so I can obviously see travel routes easiest. I also like to post season scout with snow off though, so I can see scrapes. I do 90% of my prep work for the upcoming season, starting right after the current season ends. I'm a post season scouting maniac. I love it, and I believe it contributes alot to the success I have on the mature bucks I chase each year. I also place a lot of cameras out all over the place when season ends in order to get as good of idea as I can, which bucks survived. I let those cameras run until about march
We actually got some snow while gun season was still open a few yrs ago, i got out one day and confirmed deer crossings and trails. They still using them today
We dont get much snow here but years ago we got several inches. I went scouting and found this particular spot where tracks were crossing that i would have never guessed had i not found the trail in the snow. It was a main travel route that was out of place and not noticeable otherwise. Hunted that area for a couple years and killed deer i wouldnt have had i not found it due to snow.
I used to use late muzzleloader season to see what made it through rifle season and push into bedding areas I was hesitant to push into during bow season
If you don’t go you don’t know.
Great use of your time finding some new spots.
In the south u have to take advantage of snow to scout
Love all your videos.. I have a question concerning the first part of this video. When you were in the woods there were a hundred stumps sticking up about 1 or 2 feet off the ground. They looked like the had been put in a pencil trimmer or a beaver had cut them.. Can you share info on those?
Get r done bud, u got the spirit that's for sure
Always like your videos keep them videos coming of you walking around giving your take on how deer travel.
Best time to scout is the day after hunting season. No matter snow or not
That public looked like a good spot !! I hunt a pipeline today has a good buck come out on top of hill soon as he came out he turned away from me started walking never could get a shot I was comfortable with imma try I’m the morning maybe he comes back
I seen that same doe she has twins with her when I left for work
Great video, I did the exact same thing on my property yesterday, walked and scouted since the snow is on. You can tell so much more reading the sign in the snow. Our season went out 2 days ago. I love just getting out in the snow and snooping around.
You walked by a trail camera at the 15:40 mark
We rarely get enough snow here in Texas to track deer in, but I sure like scouting after a good rain storm. Fresh muddy tracks can help piece the puzzle together too 👍👍
Was that blood in that one bed?
I use the roads light lines gas lines as a border. They parallel em. Need to see more hunts on the light line.
I have a kill tree that has been a year after year great spot. Located it following after season tracks in the snow
Out scouting in snow myself here in TN. Lots of great intel.
I've lived in Northern Wisconsin and South Alabama, and Wisconsin is way easier for scouting.
You know when deer have been there since the last snow. Alabama you never know how old the tracks are. And tracking a shot deer is really easy in the snow too. Walking around in the snow not so easy.
I’m in North Mississippi myself. This weather!!! Yea it’s very rare to hit a stretch like we’ve had this year. Sort of freakish too…weather man sort of under shot his forecast a bit. I plan on doing this same exercise on our lease. Real value added time. Those bloody tracks are wild…never even heard of this. Another good one Jeremy.
Just love scouting vids. Its fun, gets you out, and so much intel can be attained. I believe that scouting really raises your odds and is a huge part of making your "luck". Blood in tracks is common, by the way.
I'm up here in MN and hunt way North. Winter scouting can be tricky because there is a huge difference in deer patterns in Fall/Winter. The areas you hunt in November may not have a single track come Feb. Deer may have to move (far, miles) for food.
I encourage all to get out there, learn, and make your luck happen.👍
Awesome job 👍
