The Last of Us was a masterful adaptation that was the perfect adaptation of game to screen…but for a zombie show, it really didn’t have many zombies in it. We think the show missed an opportunity to amp up the existential dread of this world.

You're absolutely right. With such a big budget, how do they not have more action sequences?
I feel like the show went downhill every episode. Sam and Henry was the high for me, it was real and emotional. Then you jump three months into a different boring world.
I was really hoping for a big zombie scene in the finale after three zombie-less episodes
I'm not familiar with the video game. Honestly, disappointed with the TV show. Got progressively boring. ZZZzzz…
Agreed! That's one place where they could improve in season 2. Plus they can kill a lot of time throughout a lot of episodes. Just killing zombies! I think we'd all be up for some of that…
Facts
Agreed. That would have been the perfect place to do it. They think they're safe, get attacked, she almost drowns, THEN the Fireflies show up. More like the game. Budget issues?
I blame Velma.
No, it didn’t
The entire flooded tunnel section could have and should have been an entire episode
100% accurate. The show drops to a 7/10 for me because of that .
The moral quandary Joel has doesn’t seem like much of one because everyone seems safe
I don't think it was near perfect. The journey wasn't nearly as perilous nor did we have as much time we ellie and Joel. I don't think we needed a full episode with Bill and frank especially seeing as how we got a full riley and ellie episode. That's a hill I'll die on. A well acted episode but did nothing for the journey other than the heavy handed foreshadow of the protector joel note.
It definitely needed more zombies to let joel actually protect her. Half the episodes were boring But the finale was still fire.
I was sure they were saving one last Zombie fight for the last episode to make us eat our words on the lack of zombies (and also "raise the stakes for Joel's decision").
100% agree it needed more infected and more action
As someone who knows what happens in the 2nd game I also feel like they're trying to retcon the story from the first game to try to paint Joel in a worse light than the game did. In order to try to make what happens in the 2nd game make more sense.
(For instance no one surrenders to Joel in the game during the Hospital part aside from the Nurses, also Ellie isn't as willing to die to save the world in the game's story. They added more scenes that try to make Ellie look like she would've been happy to die if it meant saving the world.)
I think the final episode could have used more tension in some way, but I think part of the reason they didn't use zombies more liberally was just because they seemed far stronger in the show.
The scenes with the Infected in the museum and in the mall in Boston gave the impression that they were very difficult to survive against even in small numbers, and the large swarm in Kansas City just seemed impossible for people to fight against.
I don't get how episode 3 is still getting hype like it was almost completely unnecessary to the plot of the story
I felt nothing when watching 9
Like this show needs more Doug.
No, please don’t explain why.
I 100% agree, I can´t believe the biggest infected scene was in the episode with the bloatter and then they just…disapeared. It would have been awesome to see some before getting to the fireflights. There was also not too much about the constant fight between the fireflights and Fedra… it´s a very good adaptation…but it would have been perfect if they included a little bit of that. +
I disagree. In the show the infected at the end would have just been filler. They did the infected hoard right when Joel had to snipe to protect Ellie and that is the only time that staying true to the game mattered in terms of the infected.
No, it doesn't
it doesn't have any zombies
So all the threats from other humans didnt create tension? The destroyed world around them didn’t set it up enough?
Just admit y’all obsessed with violence and then go see a therapist 😂
So, if they follow the games. Joel will be killed at the start of season 2?
Almost word for word how I was feeling about the latter episodes. If there is to be any question about whether what happens should happen to protect the world from a threat, we need to feel that threat. The series was good at showing the aftermath but shied away from what the present threat is, beyond, mostly, the non-infected. We should be reminded that a "Cure" is actually still required. The fungus never really felt like that much of an issue outside of flashbacks. I have never played the game so this is a reasonably unbiased view. And I still enjoyed it.
Yes! Thank you for saying it out loud. I hope they correct this in Season 2. I am watching the show for zombies. Love the relationships and human threats. But come on now.
There were no zombies in The Last of Us games or show. There I said it.
Agreed, the last episode should of had a bloater and a few clickers. To see Joel and Ellie take down a massive monster capable of tearing heads off should have been added.
Agree completely!!!
Yeah… 1 zombie every other episode was pretty lame.
It was boring.
I don't think what Joel did was wrong. The Fireflys said that it was Ellie's decision, but they never let her choose. I think because they thought she would say no.
I also don't think the Fireflys would use the cure for good. They might only give it out to other Fireflys or use it for power.
Also in the show the virus doesn't seem like the biggest threat anymore. Raiders and other people have been doing more harm. The cure also wouldn't work for already infected zombies.
I am also confused on why they said they needed to kill Ellie for the cure. Right when they got her they said "Let's dissect her brain" without doing much research to find another way. You can also visibly see some of the fungus in Ellie's arms, so I'm not sure why they needed it from the brain.
Random Question for you maybe you have an answer it is Marvel related: Do you think the High Evolutionary helped Thanos with the Chitari upgrades for Infinity War on the attack of Wakanda?
The show is so bad I literally didn’t even watch the season finale…. I don’t think I’ve ever done that with any show! overall I give the show a 1 out of 10 for wasting my time
The show was kinda boring imo
Yeah it felt rushed at the end… Like Ellie was quiet and Joel was Aye ok. They didn't feel themselves… I agree with more zombies. I would've wanted more side stories expanding the world as well. Not just a skip to the End.
Totally agree
I'm utterly surprised that no one got hit with a brick at any point in time.
Thanks Craig Maizin, you secret genius, thanks for giving us painfully realistic version of Ellie- a child who was infected with a brain-destroying fungus the day she was born and grew up among the decaying remnants of civilization. You picked Bella Ramsey because she is suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome, or maybe she was malnourished as a child, so overall she's perfect choice as neglected dystopian kid with her greasy sparse hair, pale white oily skin, and distorted facial proportions.
Since we are honest… I don't like episode 3. There I said it.
Budget cuts and over worked CGI houses in Hollywood
The lack of infected leans toward Joel being "right".
