Bird was so great that he could play in today's NBA effortlessly … And I'm a Lakers fan, born and raised in Los Angeles! Hated the Celtics with a passion, but massive respect to Bird and all the 80's Celtic teams.
There was this one player that was absolutely ripped, muscles head to toe, and Larry just walked up to him and said, "those muscles won't help you tonight." Every time Larry hit a shot on the guy, he would say, "muscles."
One of my favorite experiences was going to see Boston win the EC semifinals against Atlanta in 1986. Boston won 132-99. Bird went for 36. My grandfather obtained tickets and brought my dad and I. Only time I ever went to a game with my pepere (grandfather French Canadian). I saw 6 future HOF that night: Bird, McHale, Parrish, DJ, Walton and Wilkins.. not to mention other legends, Doc Rivers, Spud Webb, Danny Ainge. We were 5 rows back from the court.
This is the generation of basketball that I grew up watching and IMHO was the greatest era of the NBA, so many NBA legends and Hall of Famers played during the '80's and '90's. The Celtics/Lakers rivalry of the '80's is still one of greatest rivalries in sports history. πβοΈ
GREAT REACTION MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE ENJOYED WATCHING YOUR MUSIC VIDEO REACTIONS FOR WELL OVER A YEAR ESPECIALLY YOUR CHRIS STAPLETON REACTIONS……… LARRY LEGEND IS SO UNDERAPPRECIATED BY TODAY'S YOUNG'UNS IT IS BEYOND LUDICROUS. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL I CAN SAY IS KEEP EDUCATING EVERYBODY PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Larry Bird was the most complete basketball player ever. EVER. He didn't have the graceful athleticism but he didn't need it. Tough as nails he did everything else on the court and was almost otherworldly. Unbelievable passer, shooter and rebounder. He talked trash but he backed it up. Bird also had the intangibles and the killer instinct and would destroy opponents and dominate in today's game. He was also one of the smartest players ever on the court and would be thinking 2 or 3 moves ahead. Bird is All-Time starting 5 forever.
This is one of the reasons it was such a joy to watch Larry and the Celtics and magic with the "Showtime" Lakers in the eighties! Grateful to have been able to be witness to all that!
Thereβs a interview out there where Gary Payton tells a Larry bird story ! Proof Bird is the biggest trash talker in NBA history ! And Bird is the real GOAT !
I only have 1 favorite thing my entire life. Not food, drink, color, song, or movie. However, I been watching Larry since 1980. He's my only favorite. He holds all the credentials.
There is a video of Bird explaining when a coach said "you hv the green light, when you want to takeover the game you can" Bird sags "thst green light has been on every since"

I sure miss those days. Greatest era of the NBA
Reggie Miller was a next-level trash talker, and his story of Larry shutting him up is iconic.
Bird is the first man on my NBA roster!
LARRY WAS A STRAIGHT UP KILLA!

I grew up in the Boston area in the 80's, and I can't stress enough how huge the Celtics/Lakers rivalry was. Bird is definitely top 5 of all time.
Today's players are VERY fortunate to not be playing against Larry. On the other hand, he made other players better by schooling them.
This is one of the reasons it was such a joy to watch Larry and the Celtics and magic with the "Showtime" Lakers in the eighties!

There has never been a player with a bigger mouth and the basketball IQ to back it up. Bird was a trash-talking Jedi on the hardwood.

Larry was something else. You have to be so confident to talk the way he does! Love your reaction! π
My π
"Magic Johnson fed Larry Bird the ball…." has to be one of the most intimidating and terrifying sentences ever spoken in all of basketball.
Don't give a dam what anyone says he's top 3 I don't give a dam about jumping and speed it's called Basketball not jumping ball.
