Large Tornados Hit MS 3/24/2023 (Read Description)

Unfortunately MS is known for monster tornados so this definitely won’t be the last.. Its believed that at least 24 people were killed last night, may they all rest in peace 😔..

(Update)
It turns out that the supercell thunderstorm seen on radar would produce three tornados as it rolled through central Mississippi.. Unfortunately, these tornados would be responsible for 21 deaths..

The first tornado the parent supercell created, was the strongest and deadliest of the three. It has been given an EF4 rating with an estimated maximum wind speed of 170mph and grew to a maximum width of 1320 yards. This powerful tornado started off just a few miles southeast of Mayersville, MS before tracking over 59 miles through the towns and communities of Rolling Fork, Midnight and Silver City. It would finally lift just to the north of Tchula and was responsible for 16 deaths.

The second tornado the parent supercell spun off has been given an EF3 rating with an estimated maximum wind speed of 155mph and grew to a maximum width of 1250 yards. This tornado started off to the southwest of Black Hawk, which would be the first town it would strike before hitting the southern edge of the town of Winona. This tornado traveled over 29 miles and was responsible for 3 deaths.

Finally, the third tornado the parent supercell would drop, was given an EF3 rating with an estimated maximum wind speed of 155mph and grew to a maximum width of 1600 yards!!! This extremely wide and fast moving tornado was on the ground for over 30 minutes, moving at an average speed of 71 MILES PER HOUR!!! It started off in eastern Chickasaw County before moving through the towns and communities of New Wren, Amory and Smithville. This monster traveled over 36 miles and was responsible for 2 deaths.
