I wonder if the heart requirement was going up by time only, OR by how much you explored? I THINK it was by time, as you hadn't explored much that 2nd run and it was already too big. I think that needs a tweak, and possibly by doing it by how much you had explored would be better, as that way you COULD sit on a small productive area and let some hearts build up before exploring more and making the heart req go up.
What! Iceland!? I wonder if the game is developed by an Icelandic team?
