Labor MP raised concerns over Taipan helicopter safety two years ago

A federal Labor MP who raised serious concerns about the safety of the army’s Taipan helicopters two years ago says there must be a thorough and transparent investigation into the crash that killed four servicemen last week.

Former soldier Luke Gosling told Sky News Australia that Australians deserve to know if everything was done to ensure the helicopters were safe.

  1. Then best lesson to learn might be to stop using Australian forces as underpaid, expendable auxiliaries for American Imperial political aims.

  2. Dump the Fragile 'Ferrari' Western Widow Makers and get real Choppers, Mil Mi-17. Safety record per AFHR way beyond these Western Death traps. Like a AK74M, RPG-29 and BTR-80, tough, rugged and dependable. If you cease hostilities with the Russians they might actually sell you some. I remember visiting their little stand at the Avalon Airshow in 2011.

  3. get the military out of australia – now. we don't want this ramp up. Get them and their fake weapons pyramid scheme out of this peaceful and safe country. they're making it worse. all those weapons they buy will be used on civilians not any made up enemy
