why does franktruck is missing??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
im finally learning USI a bit more, thanks for going on long tangents Carnasa, its surprisingly educational!
carnasa sounds like he's on the verge of a mental breakdown
Would personally love to see some longer, more infrequent uploads. It's very nice to lean back to a 20 minute episode I feel!
Hello everyone, can someone tell me which mod allows orbital constrcution in ksp? that would be amazing
One resource I would recommend for learning more about the Far Future Technologies engines would be the Atomic Rockets website.
As for Nuclear Salt Water Rockets, they’re, in a vastly oversimplified nutshell, designed to produce a continuous nuclear fission chain reaction in the stream of water (mixed with a uranium-rich metal salt, hence the Nuclear Salt Water part of the name) exiting into the nozzle of the rocket. End result is specific impulse and thrust broadly comparable to Orion drives, without the need to build vast quantities of atomic warheads.
If you ever go Interstellar you should call it the Kerbol Class
i forgot again you existed lmao, whats wrong with me
BTW the Nuclear Pulse Engine you're currently using is no less radioactive than the Nuclear Salt Water Rocket; it's a nuclear bomb launcher after all. The difference is just that the NSWR works in atmosphere and has more thrust, which makes it far more tempting to ignore radiological safety guidelines by using it near planets. Don't worry about your prior use of the pulse engine, though; its exhaust velocity is higher than Rhode's escape velocity, so it's fine as long as it isn't pointed directly downwards.
Gimme Another episode <3
Carnasa, I absolutely love your enthusiasm while narrating this project,. Thank you for producing content even while in the midst of exams. I enjoy seeing the fruits of your work every time they come out. =)
The person who said the Nuclear Salt water containment space is wrong scott manely did a video about it the radioactivity would quickly evaouprate leaving not much radiation. I highly recommend watching that video. I like you videos its nice to relax and watch one
For anybody wondering, the whole Transfer Credits thing is the WOLF section of the USI mod. It's fairly high on the tech tree, but once done you can automate transfers to orbit. You can even do this on Kerbin/Rhode, by scouting out resources in different biomes and then buying the same Transfer Credits.
In addition to being convenient, it also abstracts a bunch of the process and reduces the impact on CPU/Memory/Save files.
you can fire Nuclear salt water rockets close to a planet without creating a chernobyl around it. most of the propellant from a a NSWR goes about 66 km/s, that's more then enough for escape velocity, so most of it goes interplanetary. just don't fire the engine facing the planet
This video is the beginning of carnasas descent into madness, want proof? 8:25
3:55 we can hear that you're incredibly excited for the salt water
Yes, while a chemical engine has a “continuous explosion”, with a Nuclear Saltwater Rocket it’s kinda a “continuous Chernobyl explosion” XD. “Interstellar Extended” has a rule that this engine can only be used in high orbit, and even then you shall not direct it towards the homeworld. If you do so, the engine just shuts off.
It does look very pretty
reminds me of the good old days of toxic waste timmers first videos before he took off with his super colinization series
Nuclear salt water engines are like low-yield nuclear weapon going off but you keep throwing more material into the reaction so instead of a bang you get a whoosh that shoves you through space XD
