Krabby Patty Creature Feature – Dark Toons

PhantomStrider joins Doug in talking about this twisted Spongebob episode where people are turned into burger zombies. It’s actually much creepier than it sounds. Let’s take a look at Krabby Patty Creature Feature on a new episode of Dark Toons.

  1. I dont watch modern spongbob much myself but a common criticism iv heard from fans that have been watching sense the first three seasons is that modern spongbob is just much to fast most of the jokes from seasons 1-3 were eather quick vocal gags or slapstick but with animation and voice acting that while still Expressive was much more subdued and saved the energy to deliver a strong punch line but most of modern spongbob is 100% energy all the time making the punch line much less impactful because the the rest of the episode wasn't as subdued to make a stronger contrast and the show after season 3 from what I heard had a problem with flanderization were Patrick would just be stupid, mr krabs would just be greedy, and spongebob went from being child innocent to child ignorant

  2. Hey Doug so there was this cartoon I watched when I was a kid called "Play Safe". It was a Flesicher studio animation and I remembered getting so scared by the creepy imagery and the clay backgrounds they used… ON PURPOSE, to scare kids straight on not playing on train tracks. I still remember the music and the train faces that morphed as the yelled…. 😵‍💫

  3. Man this was a great collab!

Also has Doug got around to doing the Star Wars Clone Wars "Legacy of Terror" episode? Along with the episode that follows that one.

You know the Zombie worm episode/s.

  4. I kinda wrote off SpongeBob's later seasons because I rolled my eyes at cheap jokes and the gross out humor, but I should re-think that as going back to Nickelodeon's 90's roots. I loved Invader Zim and Eek for the same body horror, I should probably give it another shot.

  5. You know, ‘My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic’ also had a zombie episode called ‘28 Pranks Later.’ That definitely qualifies as a Dark Toon, and I’d love to see a review of it! There were also a couple of Halloween episodes, a take on ‘A Christmas Carol,’ and one where Fluttershy turns into a vampire fruit bat. All of those would qualify, and I’d love to see them. The original iteration of ‘My Little Pony’ also had a monster called The Schmooze, which was kinda like ‘The Blob.’ That would make for another great episode.

  6. More recently, #Amphibia had a mushroom zombie episode, and the primary monster from it came back in season three for another episode that was an homage to horror movies. Actually, several episodes from that show are dark, including the Halloween episode. I’d love to see reviews of those. Star Vs The Forces of Evil had several dark episodes too, including the Christmas and Halloween episodes. I’d love to see that. #TheOwlHouse and #TheGhostAndMollyMcGee are two other current shows that bank on dark material, and I’d love to see reviews of those. The former has especially dark examples with ‘Yesterday’s Lie’ and ‘Hollow Mind.’

  7. You collab with PhantomStrider!? He's a chad cool reviewer!

Something about this guy is just pure charming, great job Doug & Phantom!

The way you 2 talked about this episode makes me respect every episode, no matter how bad or cliche it is.

  8. Interesting thing about Bubble Bass (the one PhantomStrider describes as the critic character) is that he's actually not a new character. He was introduced in the very first season as the guy who hid Spongebob's pickles to discredit him. They brought him back in the more recent seasons after years of absence to be Spongebob's rival, in a way.

  9. And THAT'S why you test new food before selling it to people!! Where' the Bikini Bottom FDA when you need 'em?! And how come Krabs and Sandy weren't arrested in the end? There had to be some laws broken somewhere.

  10. Thanks for another great episode!

    Continuing offering for a look-at the following;
    – “Haunted” from Teen Titans
    – The Old Mill (1937)
    – “Insane in the Membrane” from TMNT 2003
    – The Pioneer’s Violin (soviet animated short about WW2 made in 1971. There is no dialogue in it so language shouldn't be an issue. VERY DARK!)
    – Hedgehog in the Fog (another soviet cartoon. Dunno if it qualifies perfectly, but it does have uneasy moments. Also it got some solid recognition)
    – Film, Film, Film (1968) (This short contains one pretty dark scene, but is also about making movies. Might interest you 😉)
