A special thanks to Cup of Pixels for sending me a free Steam key for review purposes!
I hope you will enjoy my review of Kingdom Shell for the PC. A one man project that oozes with personality and is full of exciting gameplay and beautiful set pieces! I tried to keep it as short as possible, but hopefully you will still get the full picture. Thanks for watching!

  1. Thank you so much for such a detailed review, Joy! The video is very touching, especially the last words. And the video came out just in time for the release^_^ I really appreciate your work!

  2. Thanks for this review. Fun fact, I first learnt about this game way back when it was just a demo on itch and I found it interesting, but I had honestly given up on it releasing and was surprised to see an update last week. You mentioned some of my pet peeves and that was appreciative. The lack of save point is one I absolutely cannot stand, especially when it's specific to areas. If a game generally has few save points it "ok, it's a design decision, I don't like it" but when it's arbitrary it is so annoying. Glad to hear the platforming and exploration is really good though even though the combat looks to still be the same rather dull affair as way back when. The lack of fast travel is another I cannot understand why games hold off. I'll prolly pick it up at some point, but prolly not on release unless it has a pretty good price point.

Side-note: I'm actually replaying Ender Lillies right now and it just made me appreciate other than how good it is just how convenient it is. It has none of this nonsense, but is still unmistakably a soulsvania. Turns out these things never really contributed to difficulty when well designed, just annoyance (I'm still salty over the fact that that game's map design didn't become a genre convention going forward).

  3. Excellent review!! Perfect timing to- as soon as the game releases!! I'm really fatigued right now though having just played thru Baldur's Gate 3 & Starfield. but game has been on my radar for a bit so I'm torn whether to dive in right now or not. esp since I still need to wrap up my HaaK playthrough… It looks great tho

  4. I played the demo so i was getting it anyway, gonna watch your reviews afterwards to avoid spoilers but would you summarize it as a great game or just a good/bad one? Keep up the good work as usual! Also how hard is it compared to say grime, ender lillies or elderand?
