King Charles leads tributes at D-Day 80th anniversary | BBC News

France and Britain are holding commemorations marking the eightieth anniversary of the D-Day landings during the Second World War.

In Portsmouth in England, King Charles called on people to live up to the freedom soldiers died for, paying tribute to surviving veterans. In France, President Macron also evoked the spirit of sacrifice at a ceremony in Brittany.

The D-Day landings saw troops from the UK, US, Canada and France attacking German forces in Normandy, northern France, during World War Two.

It was the largest seaborne invasion ever attempted, and marked the start of the campaign to liberate Nazi-occupied north-west Europe.

  6. A wonderful Commemoration, I have been in tears all morning. However I have to ask, why it is that after thousands and thousands of people died for our freedoms, our Governments are betraying them by ALLOWING thousands of ILLEGAL migrants to INVADE our country. Isn’t that what all those poor brave men and women fought to stop? Get out of the ECHR NOW!

  8. The "original D Day" in 1940 in Dunkurk ended in defeat and retreat. 4 years later in 1944 it was a success because 27 millions read army soldiers died during those 4 years weakening and destroying the German army AND YET, somehow this shameless cretins have the arrogance and audacity not to invite the Russian to this celebration a stain that will never wash away SHAME ON YOU.

King Charles exemplary, Sunack absolutely abysmal you couldn’t put words together to make him an his management government look better than what they are, they have been schooled at Either of the two great schools and you would be more proud of a secondary education, to turn out bile what they turn out, And that of the BBC is a management government run company which is corrupted.

  13. D-Day
80th anniversary of the landing of Allied troops in Normandy.

June 6, 1944, eighty years ago, the beginning of the end of Adolf Hitler's Nazi Third Reich took place on the beaches of Normandy.
A democratic and united West, soldiers from the USA, UK, Canada, Poland, France, Australia paying the highest tribute of their lives in Operation Overlord. We remember our heroes. It was a beautiful, historic victory that ultimately led to the unconditional defeat of the murderous regimes of fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and the Japanese empire.
Democracy works in accordance with the law, so it works carefully and slowly. But when all its gears are switched to a war system in defense of our values, the Western world of democracy becomes an undefeated power.
From February 24, 2022, we have a repeat of the Second World War in Europe. The Russian regime, on orders from dictator Putin, attacked Ukraine, a smaller and weaker neighbor, only because the Ukrainian people decided they wanted to be part of the democratic West.
Ukraine, with the help of the USA, EU, UK, NATO, G7, Remstain Group, is heroically fighting against Russia's brutal aggression. The Ukrainians eliminated over 0.5 million Russian soldiers, destroyed tens of thousands of military equipment and 30% of the Black Sea Fleet without having their own Navy.
Why the USA, the USSR and the UK defeated the Third Reich, Mussolini's regime and the Empire of Japan. Because US President Franklin D. Roosevelt and UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill made such a decision.
"We will destroy the regimes, we will defeat them until they surrender unconditionally."
The entire human, economic, military and financial potential of the USA, the UK and the USSR was committed to achieving this ambitious goal.
This time, after 80 years, Putin's Russia is the aggressor that attacked democratic Ukraine.
And this time the Roosevelt and Churchill tactics should be used, i.e. a political decision must be made in the USA, EU, UK, NATO, G7, Remstain Group:
"Ukraine must win the war with Russia, and we will do everything to make that happen."
    Eternal glory to the heroes.
