Disturbing to see the lack of comments here discussing the genocide in Gaza, even as Isra3l invades Rafa. with the Sony story you missed a massive variable. you could still make an account in those 178 countries if you bought a console. so it wasn't blocked. it was paywalled behind a 700 dollar console to play your PC games. this was both a cash grab by Sony and a way to boost Playstation network numbers for this quarter. making it the first time in 2 years when sony would have seen growht in monthly active users.
for people not in the know, playstation has lost in between 1-3 million monthly active users per year for the last couple of years and shareholders are not happy about it. espessially because xbox gained 30 million last year and are close to having 50% more monthly active users than PlayStation. so PlayStation did this because they are loosing to xbox and shareholders are not happy about it. for comparison Starfield was considered at flop at 15 million players while PlayStation considers spiderman a success at 30% of those numbers numbers. that tells you how many people are actually actively using their products.

I am a Helldivers player. I was very angry about cutting off all those countries. Though, I find it reallllly interesting that Helldivers is a game where the player base bands together to beat an enemy. They decided to fuck with us… so we banded together to fight a new enemy… Sony. And we won. Democracy Prevails! That being said, we are getting a special downvote cape to commemorate.

So one thing that you didn’t mention about the ceasefire deal put forth by Hamas is that they agreed to return to Israel 30 hostages, living and dead instead of just returning 30 of the living hostages they have.
Both sides agreed that in phase 3 there would be an exchanging of remains so why would they include the dead in the initial hostage exchange?
It’s also really interesting to look at the differences in Hamas statements made on English speaking news outlets compared to what statements they make on Arabic speaking networks. Hamas’s words are a lot more aggressive and violent when not being served up to western audiences
Also the Al Jazeera issue isn’t really Israel trying to shut down info about the conflict. Al Jazeera is Qatar state media. Qatar is heavily funded by the Islamist Republic of Iran. There is continual evidence of stories being shared and reported on by Al Jazeera with dubious claims, inflammatory accusations that get debunked by intelligence analysts, and just an overall push to shape the narrative as anti Israel as they can.
Qatar is not innocent in all this. Look at the 2+ billion dollars they have injected into Ivy League schools over the past several years. Hell, US department of education documents have shown that Ivy League schools have received around 1 billion dollars from the Palestinian territory. For an “open air prison with no resources” that sounds like a lot of money to donate to foreign colleges unless you have an agenda
Regarding the Helldivers II PSN requirement – Sony poked an entire game's community base whose game's premise is specifically derived off of said community base mobilizing against invading 3rd party oppressors, what did they expect to happen? Also, including an option to link accounts with the incentive that a cool "Playstation" armor set, or even just super credits would have been the way to go and a talking point that would have made the community see them in a much different light.
I know I would have gone for such an option… now that ship has warped to another galaxy.

Suffice isn't something that's always planned. Both my father and one of my best friend's father's killed themselves in the heat of the moment.
So on the Sony thing I want to talk about a few things.
1. The response from the wider community was kind of ridiculous outside of those in those regions that PSN isn't available in and those acting in support of them. The most personal information required is a valid email and zip code. The people who were upset over that are just looking for things to be angry about.
2. Steam, not Sony, is the one who purged the game from regions without PSN. I respect Valve a lot but I do think they should probably have only suspended sales until the decision was made because we already knew by that point that Sony was in talks about what to do about the situation.
3. While I understand people's complaints about it, I think Arrowhead did the best they could do. They have been hard at work managing the game itself, so it's understandable they didn't put any kind of notice about some nebulous deadline for account linking when linking they didn't even know when they would have to reimplement it. They were completely at Sony's mercy here.
So overall I will say this was obviously 100% Sony's fault, but I do think a lot of people were mad just to be mad.
I completely side with the helldivers, I have refunded games immediately because the publisher had the audacity to force me to use their launcher even though I gave my money to steam.

I must be pretty cynical, because I am hearing those lyrics and they got like B grade writing and singing. On the helldivers issue, i think many were annoyed about the multiple accounts for a game situation but when got me and most of the people i know pissed about this was the fact that players would lose acces to a game they had bought and played for some time. that would just be a dick move from a shit publisher and i think many share that sentement

Sony didn't backtrack on Helldivers 2. They still have the game delisted in 180 regions, and they delisted Ghost of Tsushima as well. I am willing to bet this is only the beginning. If we don't fight back now with full force, not only will those regions not have access to the games but they never will. Also not only will they add PSN as a requirement but they will add PS+ as well, or worse a PS app to download and play the games that will also require a PS+ account.
