  1. Henry Staunton says he has a contemporaneous notes of this conversation which he emailed to himself and colleagues in the PO. I guess he has no access to that system now he has been sacked.
This should be investigated by the enquiry and the PO needs to hand that note to Sir Wyn for scrutiny.
If it doesn’t exist anymore or perhaps never existed it’s going to be even more of a side show.
I don’t think people would be surprised that the PO might try to delete an email trail but if they decide to jump in that direction to hush it up and then Mr Staunton has a printed copy of it then that would blow the whole thing up even more.

  3. Fast Track PPE contracts worth Hundreds of Millions were given to multiple Tory donors. Michelle Mone felt she was entitled to £220 million. And within 2 weeks she got it all. Every penny.
Where's the money coming from? Fujitsu? Why is the assumption being made that the bill will be paid for by the tax payers? Why not start with the premise that those people who caused the problems should be the ones that pay for it. Even if it means them selling houses/stocks and shares/clawing back wages and bonuses etc. Surely those people who commit crimes and benefitted from them should be made to pay it back?

  4. Badenoch is one of the most stupid people I’ve ever seen in politics in all my long years. I’m old enough to remember Ted Heath, Wilson and Callahan, an adult under Thatcherism. But it really feels like the people who, in the normal state of things, would be fetching the teas and organising venue bookings, are the ones in charge now! Just get Badenoch in front of a committee and her sheer stupidity will betray her quickly enough.

  5. You’re missing one point. If the Tories think it’s, “smart,” to drag their feet, just so they don’t have to foot the compensation bill in their final months, the other edge to that sword is the fact that Labour will have the opportunity to dig really deep and get to the TRUTH about who was responsible for every mistake. They will find criminal liability from MP’s through to civil servants, from the, “investigators,” to Post Office officials. And every last one of them will get nailed to the wall.
If Badenoch had even half a brain she would know it’s in her best interests to settle all accounts as a matter of urgency before the end of this Parliament’s term. Of course, she’s clinically thick, so she’ll keep digging her grave.
But personally, if I were the Labour minister waiting to be handed this Curate’s Egg, I would be rubbing my hands with glee at the prospect of getting criminal records to stick to a certain Baroness and several Tory MP’s. Alan Bates would already be at the top of my friends and family speed dial list.

  6. Kemi Bad Enoch is very thin skinned and cannot bear any criticism without angrily responding – not leadership or even government material. Lied about attending LGBT meetings and also lied about discussing Canada-UK trade deal (denied by Canada) – so given form probably lying about Post Office.

  7. Kemi is like Liz Truss – incompetent but is there long enough to be considered senior and moves through portfolios even when messing up. Example is Australian Trade deal – no welfare conditions imposed or tariffs on Aust meat imports – so given scale of farming means UK meat growers are screwed as they can’t compete on numbers of sheep. But Kemi just sails on. Like Truss screwed up every portfolio she was in.
