  1. Late wife story: NTA. The fact that you refused to, yet again, keep her on schedule like a child on her birthday is irrelevant. She’s a grown adult and you are not her father. She needs to learn self sufficiency and plan her own self accordingly. And she had the gall to try and kick you out of the bedroom because she was late?! LAWL! Congrats on shutting that nonsense down.

  2. Dental assistant story: If he’s so embarrassed by your career, do you both a favor and leave him. This guys fragile insecurity is an embarrassment and you do not deserve to suffer his pride.

  3. To the guy who "ruined" wife's birthday. Good for you. I think your timing was just right and the lesson will be remembered. You're her husband, not her mommy or daddy. She needs to act like the adult her age says she is.

  4. If mom doesn't want her 16 yo to be forced to do dishes, or chores, in someone else's home, that's fair. The 16 yo's mom can do those chores because it's not fair to make the host family take on the load for those 2.

  5. Daughter wants to be celebrated for doing nothing: the Redditor who commented that everyone should be celebrated — even for putting a nice outfit together *WTF" — is DELUSIONAL with a capital D! If one child is putting in extra effort and working hard, then that child should be celebrated. If the other child is just sitting on their butts and doing nothing — what are you going to celebrate? Their laziness? Their entitlement? What? Grow up people! Participation awards only work when you are a toddler; the real world rewards real achievements!

  6. Tipping culture is really stupid. Just pay workers what they deserve instead of skipping paying and expecting customers to fill the gap. By the way, it is the chef that makes the delicious meal, the server only takes it to the table.

  7. Dental receptionist: Your bf didn't actually lie. He did bend the truth a little. As a receptionist you are the front line of the office. You assist the dentist by making appointments, do billing, and answer the phone. By definition, your are a 'dental assistant' but by job title you are a receptionist. I get the thought that you got upset by what your bf said your job was, but be proud of your job. A dental assistant cleans teeth, sets up for the next patient, and cleans/sterilizes tools. You on the other hand, run the office. The dentist can function without an assistant and get a new assistant anytime. A good receptionist that can manage the office in her sleep is very difficult to find. Don't be upset that some people think the job title of assistant is important, but the office would collapse without you. You are more important than you think, accept it and own it.

  8. 1:02:11 – I bet Doc here doesn't call OPs parents Mr and Mrs because he thinks his "title" is above theirs.

I live a profession where you get used to calling people by titles…Sir, Ma'am, Captain, Sergeant, Private. If I was talking to a Colonel or a Doctor…cool…you earned that title and it's not above or beneath me to call you by that title…but as a Sr NCO (Sergeant First Class) it's also a sign of respect to call an 18 year old Private by the rank they earned too…Private J. Stuffy deserves that same respect too…I'm willing to bet Doc here doesn't see things like this.

PS, I'm also not the kinda person to need to hear my own rank as someone addresses me. Out of uniform, I'm just me, and tell people to call me by my 1st name at home, so this guy being "Dr Justin" to his GFs parents at their house is kinda weird to me.

  9. As an actual dental assistant I feel upset this guy thinks we just "clean equipment". We assistant Drs is proceedures, make sure the drs have the equipment they need and help the patients with their appointments. It is complex and you need a lot of training for it. Plus a reception job at a dental clinic isn't easy either. Like who cares if they don't require a certificate for it. Doesn't make it less important or difficult

  10. Pool & neighbor kids: IMO, OP and spouse using “gentle” language “I do not feel comfortable…” and “I’d rather you not…” is exactly why they aren’t listening. SUE them and use their money to make it harder for them to get on your property. Or have the kids arrested for trespassing. Stop being a pushover.

  11. 2:19:06 feeding tube. I’m mixed of my thoughts. I like how the nurse handled it gave them a reality check but also could have done it in better ways. I don’t understand why a pump isn’t being used. You can set the rate mL/hr and the intervals or disconnect in between or you can run it 24hrs. Into the stomach most hook up 4x/day or 6x/day and it’s around 400mL/hr. The feeding tube that bypasses the stomach into small intestine (jejunum) is 18-24hrs/day as you can do a max of 80mL/hr as it doesn’t stretch like the stomach. I’m tube fed into the jejunum at 26mL/hr I get formula meds fluids into it and my stomach one is to drain acid bile and liquids I’m allowed to drink my stomach is paralyzed

  12. NTJ for the OP that asked his daughter to baby sit. He would have more than enough for child care if he didn’t pay for his daughter’s car, insurance, classes ect. There was a change with childcare, it could be temporary for all anyone knows. If he needs her help with this she should be willing to help at least until they can find other arrangements.
