  1. nah it's not that deep, i'm still excited whenever there's a new group coming, if anything pre-release just makes it more exciting and i get to see soo much mv and content from them in such a short wait span not once every full moon mv

  2. This is EXACTLY why I think KARD didn’t take off. They had THREE pre-releases spread across several months before their official debut. And the risk with this, which I think is what happened with KARD, is that their official debut track wasn’t distinctly better than their pre-releases. So, the debut was therefore seen as lackluster AND was already seen as “bland” because the sound wasn’t fresh.

Like, imagine a pre-release getting more traction than your debut…already seeing interest fade before you’re even officially active.

  3. i call this the loona effect. companies saw the bajillion predebut songs and how they created a doting fanbase and decided to mimic it. i’m sure it’s just the norm now, but loona definitely had a hand in it.

  4. Naa I miss the time where people used to debut looking like absolute losers(in the most cute way) now they are all so… idk the standards are so high even when they debut… like y’all saw TXT in their Cat&dog outfits 😂😂

  5. Okay but it definitely worked in their favour though? I remember when it came out and everyone said it wasn’t like other groups. No teasers, they just dropped Attention out of nowhere. It was a clever move that sets New Jeans apart. They clearly aren’t set out to be your typical kpop group. That’s the point. There’s still many groups out there like IVE that posted teasers and eventually led up to Eleven coming out.

  6. Groups have been doing this for a long time though. Exo and Mamamoo both had a long-winded pre-debut full of pre-releases.
But despite aaaall of the teasers (so many), What is Love? and History releasing before Exo properly debuted, there is no doubt in anyone's mind that MAMA was the debut song because it was so bombastic and high-budget compared to the pre-releases 😂.
Same with Mamamoo- Peppermint Chocolate MV is low budget, Don't Be Happy only got half an MV and HiHiHaHeHo didn't get one at all. Plus all their pre-releases were collabs so their proper debut felt special.
Nowadays there is less distinction between the pre-releases and debut song so it's harder to tell. I really enjoy Newjeans' music but every single comeback I have no idea which song is meant to be the title track 😂. I just pick the one I like best and decide in my head that's it haha. To be fair, 2NE1 did this too, but they spaced out the singles, promoted ALL OF THEM on music shows then released the album at the end

  7. So I was also confused about NewJeans debut but I understand know so read more if you wanna know!:
(Skip to the explanations if ydc about the dates)

So, 'Attention' Official MV came out, out of nowhere (Hyein's unintentional idea) on the 21st of July last year.

The next day, the 22nd of July, 'Hype Boy' Official MV (intro) comes out followed by (the next day, 23rd of July) 'Hype Boy' Official MV all versions (MINJI, DANIELLE&HAERIN, HYEIN and HANNI ver.s)

On the 24th of July, 'Hurt' Official MV comes out.

And finally, 'Cookie' Official MV premieres on the 1st of August which is also when NewJeans 1st EP 'New Jeans' was released.

    v EXPLAINATION/CONCLUSION v
    '''""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
So technically all 3 songs 'Attention', 'Hype Boy' and 'Cookie' are their debut since all 3 of them are the title tracks of their debut album and were all Officially released on streaming platforms the same day.

BUT many people say … id their debut song dor different reasons that I'll explain.

-Some say Cookie is the title track since it was released as the same time as the album and Attention and Hype Boy are pre-releases. (Yes Hype Boy and Attention were pre-releases but they are also title tracks so I think they're also their debut)

-Some think Hype Boy was their debut song (for no specific reasons just because Hype Boy was more popular so they always thought Hype Biy was their debut single)

-And some (including Hybe, not Ador tho) say Attention was their debut song since that's when they first made their appearance and 'debuted' (honestly it makes sense they debuted with Attention, that's a fact but they have 3 title tracks I their debut album so technically the 3 are debut songs)

Tell me what you guys think, if you think I'm wrong or if you agree! 🙂

  8. People in Kpop are so used to being spoon fed everything.

using your example, i'm failing to see what is confusing about what new jeans' debut is?? like obviously its the first song/video that came out?? why does a company need to tell you "this is their debut" like it should be fairly obvious
We should be excited about kpop doing things differently, instead of sticking to the same old formula

  9. Also new jeans have more mvs than many 4th gen groups, mvs for each song and they were released and pomoted as singles, that's basically like lot of "comebacks" for them, and ppl wonder how new jeans catchup to other 4th gen grous in one year,
