  1. I was told the pillars were destroyed by a supernova, but we can't see it ofc as it takes some time for the light to reach us, guess we have to wait a few thousand years too see.

  2. This is fantastic. A quick question regarding colours. Since the photo is taken in the infrared, I suppose that colours are somehow translated to humanly visible light. So what are the rules ? Do the red spots correspond to an infrared wavelength specific to young stars ?

  3. If you pause the screen when he says stars forming inside, the dust looks like an alien running. Like hes carrying a football. This cloud is a pretty cool ink blot test. I can see all kinds of weird things but then again I haven't rolled out of bed yet. My brain is still in dream mode

  4. I can’t see a planetary system forming among that ‘region’ of super-energetic stellar turbulence. But yeah, a new-grad astronomer can spend a lifetime studying this nebula and still pass away with more questions than answers.
