Jurassic Time Memoirs: A Conversation With SEAMUS BLACKLEY (PT. 3):REMNANTS OF A LOST JURASSIC WORLD

Seamus Blackley is the creator of the world-famous XBOX gaming system, but before that he was the producer and programmer of the 1998 PC game “Trespasser- The Lost World: Jurassic Park”. Despite high ambitions, it was sadly met with production hurdles & a deadline that crippled the game. Despite its failure, Blackley’s success with the XBOX reinvigorated his career, leading to yet another opportunity to explore the gaming world of the Jurassic Park franchise. He was tasked to create a game that took place after the original film trilogy. Even though an impressive pitch trailer and other materials were created, the game never got made. It had been called: “Jurassic World”.

Join Derrick Davis as he discusses with Seamus Blackley both of these Jurassic Park games, what went wrong, and how they refused to remain extinct. Featuring never-before-seen artwork & video footage!

Interview conducted by Derrick Davis in August 2022.

  1. History was made here. Wow, what an amazing story. Trespasser 2 would’ve been EPIC. I’m near speechless. This is all so cool! As per usual: Nearly anything and everything special and groundbreaking for Jurassic Park gets cancelled. This sadly wasn’t the first time (FAR FAR from it) and won’t be the last. I really appreciate you JurassicTime for helping to bring this period of Jurassic history to life. Thanks again!

  2. The absolute love and care this guy showed towards not only the pre-existing story in Jurassic Park 3 but with dinosaurs themselves is astounding. His amazement with seeing dinosaurs as animals here really comes through. Universal would be lucky to have him help out with any JP-related project.

  3. Fascinating to hear the story behind this all, but I'm still sceptical that this would have been a good direction for the franchise. One of the most controversial parts of the new films was the Owen-raptor relationship, and the militirasation of dinosaurs. Even then, it barely worked passed as a believable idea.

Having Billy be friendly with every species, to the point of commanding them into battle is absurd. They are animals, not monsters, and certainly not intelligent weapons that you control

  5. NO WONDER this game's protagonist looks like Billy! 'Cause it is Billy (😃)! Seeing the document was great; the story of it alone certainly IS intriguing with how it explores how Billy becomes the "prototype" character that would eventually become Chris Pratt's Owen Grady, plus the themes of the recreated dinosaurs being animals, how communications and bonds are established between human and dinosaur, plus Bradley "Rocket Raccoon" Cooper as the villainous Admiral? Hey, sign ME up!

Man, THANK YOU for this (😊), truly!
