WE'RE BACKKK
Congratulations on becoming a teacher
Babe wake up! New Corey Skyrim video just dropped.
Oh and congrats on the far more important stuff you got done between videos too, I guess…
Books with stories are valued at 2-10 gold
Books with lore are valued at 10-20 gold
Books valued at 50 gold or more are skill books
n'ah you're good with just special edition. anniversary edition adds too many pointless quests for my liking. i saw other youtuber first time playthrough with anniversary edition and he literally got an op bow (from the anniversary mods) at the start and obviously affect balance and his gameplay, idk why bethesda approved that mod. its allright though if you already know skyrim inside out and just want new content.
I LOVE SKRYIM RAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
Re: anniversary edition: it adds a bunch of stuff you don’t need to play and enjoy the game, but what it adds is also things you can play and enjoy. It adds a crapton of new armors… easily a dozen sets. But it also adds quests for acquiring some of them, because us oldbies have already discovered everything and aren’t just going to stumble across things in the wild on our own, and for a first playthrough, those quests are kind of dumb. It adds several new locations as player homes, it adds some wild horses you can claim, it adds several questlines you can do that are fun, but aren’t really designed for low-level players (some are level locked, some aren’t). It adds fire arrows, which my inner pyro titters with glee about, but it also adds some creepy creature pets, which, ick.
For a first playthrough I’d say leave it, because otherwise you’re going to end up stumbling across one of the small things they added and be left with a feeling of “wait, people like this game? But this is crap, why would you like this?” because it’s not a story thing, it’s just cute accessory dlc added on top. That said, if it’s cheap later on again (it will be, you know Steam sales), for sure you can get it, there’s plenty of fun stuff to do. But it’s hard to tell what’s cute dlc and what’s not if you haven’t played before.
Fun fact! All npcs have an internal "what crimes do they tolerate" stat. Lydia? She's down for ANY crime. Also you can hit T to pass time by waiting if you don't feel like finding an inn, though renting a room will give you the Well Rested buff. Skyrim is actually one of the few games I love traveling at night because of the sky. I won't spoil lore, but there's an ingame book called "Souls, Black and White," that explains more about the soul gems and why there's a difference between types of souls.
You're probably my fav person to watch play this game because you really appreciate the scenery and music and lore. Looking forward to the future book readings and your discovery of how massive this game truly is!
It’s been so long that I can’t remember if I recommended good books for reading or not… but hey, comments and engagement, right?
First up is Palla, there’s volume 1 and volume 2. Volumes go in order, so don’t read volume 1+n before you read volume 1. Palla is my favorite, the story’s really good, and whoever wrote it did a smashing job; I hope they write actual real-world novels and earn good money. Then Black Arrow, also two volumes. Single-volume recommends include Immortal Blood, A Game at Dinner, The Last Scabbard of Akrash, Sacred Witness, The Fall of the Snow Prince, Locked Room, Withershins, Death of a Wanderer… and that’s probably enough 😂
People will recommend the Lusty Argonian Maid (two vols), and the followup Sultry Argonian Bard you can find in the Dawnguard dlc, but I’d recommend you read them offline to yourself first, just because they’re a bit risqué, and you should see how you think YT would feel about them. They’re extremely short, and funny, but different people have different feelings.
I might be a book nerd.
Many Congratulations on becoming a teacher, I have an inkling you will be most excellent. Good to see you back.
I would suggest leaving the dlc Dragonborn and going to Solstheim until you have done a large percentage of the base game, of course it's a choice for you but it came after the base game and assumes you will be familiar with gameplay and stronger. There are carriages at the stables that can take you to the cities to give you a base point to spread out from and can be fast travelled to thereafter.
Although stealing stuff might seem like a quick way to make coin unfortunately no trader will deal in stolen goods except a fence which you are not in touch with yet, also if you are arrested all stolen goods are confiscated so it's a bit of a waste of time.
Fast travel uses in game time, so it may be a few hours later by time you get somewhere.
You can fight with a one handed weapon from seated on your horse btw.
The amount you get for selling things is better when your speech skill is better. There’s also perks in the speech skill tree to improve prices, and an enchantment that improves prices. You’ll never get 100% of the value it shows in your inventory, but you can get closer than you are now.
Tip: if you think you’ll want to enchant gear later, it’s worth disenchanting anything you don’t want to use as you go. Even if the enchantment itself isn’t something you’ll need (say, fortify pickpocket), you’ll still bump your enchantment skill by disenchanting it, which means your enchantments will be stronger later. You can only learn each thing once tho; fortify pickpocket is fortify pickpocket, you don’t learn it better a second time (the game just won’t let you disenchant if you already know the thing), and it doesn’t matter how strong the thing you disenchant is. And hey, if you took something to disenchant, but already knew that spell, you can always sell or dump it.
And I have the same issue with Whiterun, Winterhold, and Windhelm, and even occasionally call Riverwood Riverrun and get that mixed up in there too. I don’t know if they were intentionally confusing with the names, or if it just worked out that way, but it’s a very normal issue. If I’m online at the time and absolutely need something to say but my brain is just not cooperating, I’ll end up calling them “the main one in the middle”, “the racist one”, and the mages’ college. Everybody knows what I mean 😂
Yooo two months but it’s finally here! 😂 waiting for more!
One really good thing about this Azura quest is that you unlock the priestess as a companion and boy she is damn good. My favorite dare I say. But it was a great video man hope you dive in again!
I mean, its $10 for a good amount of content. Just to be clear, paid mods aren't an amazing thing or something to support all too much, but if you want additional flavor, the option is there.
