  1. WHAT?! You DID THE SHOW? The day AFTER? Holy Smokes, you're a pro, Jon. I had to put my Sam down on New Years' Day, just weeks ago, and I was a useless puddle for a couple weeks.

There's nothing like having to say goodbye to your sidekick. I am so very sorry.

  2. Love to you and Dippper, Jon. I’m watching this with my current fur baby snuggled up against me. I had my heart broken back in 2014 when my little girl Dot died, and it took me almost 9 years to find a being to fill that puppy-sized hole in my heart. Fortunately, given time, the pain mostly subsided and I was left with all the amazing memories. And now I have Cocoa, who I rescued from the shelter last May and is absolutely incredible.

  3. Rest easy and pain-free, sweet pup. Hugs to you and your family, Mr. Steward. Dipper, say hi to my best boy Shep and girl Harley. My favorite quote: If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went ❤

  4. No matter how much I loved a human who passed, I have never cried more or felt the loss more than the loss of my cats. Sadly, so many people don’t understand the human/pet bond we have but those of us who know have been truly blessed

  5. I didn't think there was anything that could make me like Jon Stewart more. But I was wrong. Anyone who has loved and lost that perfect dog is forever a brother of mine. Thank you, Jon for giving him the best life he could ask for. I lost my best buddy in 2021, and I still think of him daily. He is my avatar. Say hello to Pastrami.

  6. I used to complain that dogs don't live long enough. I might have the privilege of having 5 maybe 6 dogs in my whole life. Now I know that we don't live long enough

  7. 🥹🥺😥💔💔💔 Our little fur babies are here for such a short time. Anyone who is an animal lover is crying with you (me). It's like a human-animal collective of pet caregivers (were not owners!). ALL our hearts are broken when we hear about someone losing their furry family member. So, so sorry, John. 🫂

  10. We lost our best girl, Polly(black and white pibble rescue) in July. She was almost 14 years old. She was ready and we were not, but we knew we had to say goodbye. I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Dipper

  11. When I first moved to a new country the first thing I saw was 3 guys in a truck who took joy slowly going off the road to break the legs of a homeless dog…then I watched them laughing after their quest. I've spent 13 years here- took in 2 homeless dogs and they've just recently passed within 4 weeks of each other. Their personalities live with me forever.

  13. I rescued my little 4kg ball of fluff Shih Tzu from the pound in 2016. A bit silly, very affectionate and treated like a princess by my Mum and I. She became very ill suddenly and unexpectedly in 2020, at the age of 5, and had to be put down as there was no quality of life. Taken to the vet one random Monday and by the end of the week she was gone. The single most tragic experience of our lives. I think of her every day. Sometimes I reminisce fondly. Other days it rips me apart inside that I couldn't have done more for her. I don't think it's something you ever get over and I feel your grief deeply. I believe that love is truly once in a lifetime. So sorry for the loss of Dipper.

  14. Dogs are family. They move right into the spot they pick in your heart, walk in that little circle, you know the one where they are still mashing down the grasses like their ancestors did to make a bed, and lay down staying there forever. Sorry for your loss Jon. I was lucky enough to have several dogs I really love. The one that hurt the most was there for every rough surgery and recovery. That little guy would barely go eat or go out. He clung to me and watched me after my recoveries. I remember I was stuck in the bathroom in pain and made a noise and that little guy raised holy chaos until someone came to help me. He was really something. He's been gone 7 years and I miss him every day. Dogs are a gift. They are the most loyal friend you can have and will defend you to the end. They are at the mercy of people and we should love them all.
