I remember you talking about back sheaths not being effective because of how difficult it is to draw from one, and it reminded me of something I made as a kid.
It was a fanny pack that would go diagonally across my chest and on the back was two binder ring sets. I would use them to hold my fishing rod and snake hook while exploring. If I wanted whatever tool was holding them I would just press on the two tabs and grab it. Do you think something like this could work for a sword?

The part about Anubises hilt damaging the user’s hand actually makes sense for the character.
Anubis is a stand existing inside of the sword that posses the body of anyone who touches the hilt. After which Anubis will use that persons body to do whatever he wishes. The hilt damaging the poor person Anubis is possessing makes sense as it represents how little he cares about his victims
