Hey Jim buy it
Vince is an effect, not the cause as far as what killed pro wrestling. The cause is the same cause that has killed the soul of many things in our culture and it is two-fold: Corporate wealth seeking and hyper political correctness.
You can't say or do anything that won't offend someone(which goes against a lot of the substance of good pro wrestling) and the group that gets offended has all these social media platforms to bitch and moan about it on so it gets picked up by lazy news organizations who turn it into a thing and the "offensive" party gets canceled.
On the other side you have billion dollar corporations dominating every single facet of consumerism (including pro wrestling as opposed to how it was once upon a time) and since every decision they make is based not on staying true to anything, but rather doing what will make their stock price go up 0.1% in value, they won't push the envelope on anything or be creative because they are afraid of being the entity that gets canceled by the hyper politically correct nuts. Thus, you get nothing but watered down, "safe" products (can you say PG era wrestling?).
So yeah, Vince Jr. sucks. But this is what happens when you have billionaires controlling everything and making every decision they make based off not offending people that simply cannot NOT be offended.
Until any of these parts of our culture and society change, nothing is going to………..well change.
So maybe to save pro wrestling it does need to shrink. Maybe it needs to revert back to smaller independent territory organizations. That's what it originally blossomed from in the beginning anyway, and Vince selling off WWE and it subsequently dying a slow death afterwards might actually end up being exactly what the industry needs. Time will tell.
Hunter had it moving in the right direction in my opinion. Who knows, maybe he and Steph will be pissed off enough to take a few of those bags of money they're sitting on to go out and start their own promotion to stick it to Daddy. If they do, they'd be wise to come courting 'ol Corny and see if maybe, just maybe he has a few more stories he'd like to tell in the booking and talent management side of the business. One can dream.
The Chris Benoit incident already led to the death of wrestling 15 years ago
Looking at the thumbnail too quickly made me think he was selling to Iron Sheik.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Vince's grandfather and father worked for years to bring wrestling up, Vince ruined Kayfabe to save his butt from the Feds, now that Stephanie and HHH were reviving it, he wants to sell it because he's mad that they may do a better job than he did. What a selfish jerk.
Wrestling died the day john cena signed a contract.
Vince is starting a new biz adventure.. creating a fountain of youth for himself.
Vince is the greatest heel of all time. Ushered in the foreign heel stereotype for decades only to join forces to crush the US market. 😂
To be honest I wouldn’t mind seeing trump buy the company.
Hate to ruin Brian Last's idea about Putin, but Putin has never had 99% of election vote. 2000- 53%
2004- 72%
2012- 67%
2018- 76%
USSR died 32 yrs ago. Russia is a democracy whether people want to admit it or not.
WWE isn't selling so they need to shut up about it
Pro Wrestling died many years ago. Nothing has been memorable in a very very long time. It was obvious that if John Cena was the absolute top guy, the business was in serious s**t.
Jim should buy wwe lol! Seriously he'll make wwe great again
The territories will come back
Mike Mondo's World Wrestling Entertainment has a nice ring to it
Generation after Generation people still love wrestling let's calm it down it will never go away or "die"
“Work hard and give a shit about the wrestling business” should be on a Cornette shirt
Break up WWE like Ma Bell and bring back the territories lol
It all depends on if the Saudi's or whoever ends up with it would even allow Vince to remain involved. I don't think the Saudi's would stick to their word for long if they did allow it. Worst case, if the company goes foreign, it kills WWE in America & allows there to be a new number 1 American wrestling organization. Doesn't mean it will be a *good Number 1, but a new one nonetheless. For all intents, WWE is not what I would call "good" right now. Not quality wise. For their collection/curation of most of the American wrestling library, they are phenomenal, as another commenter referenced. But I've been watching pro wrestling since 1991. I bled, breathed & obsessed over wrestling like I needed it to live. Today, I put Raw or Smackdown on for 10 minutes once a month & can't stand it. I have to turn it off. It's that unenjoyable. What I could see being a possibility (not likely, but possible) is the NWA once again reemerging as a titan (no pun intended) in the industry, especially if a territory system blows up again. They have the greatest legacy in terms of name power besides WWE. The time would be perfect for them to try to capitalize on that and become the biggest name once more.
"AEW is the closest and they aren't close at all". James E is a fucking hater.
I'll be completely honest it sucks that they're selling it but I'm hoping that that will end the light bright era and as for santino marella being signed to impact I tried to go to the school and train with the guy he offended me so damn bad I walked out afterwards and never went back this whole thing's a joke santino marella he was handed the IC title fuck him
Jim would shit his pants if President Trump buys WWE and turns it into one big campaign ad. 😂 That would be awesome
Why is there no anti trust in sports?
maybe this is the event that resets us back to the territory days. regional champs, wrestlers coming and going. fresh faces etc etc
For me wrestling died at the Montreal Screw job
No chance it would lead to the death of pro wrestling. Pro wrestling died a long time ago.
It's too bad The Rock already bought the XFL otherwise he could throw his name in there to buy it from Grumpy Vince
I hope so. Maybe we can see some real wrestling
You’ve Had A Good Run Vince Owning Da WWE
If WWE is willing to develop a partnership with a nation overseas in the Middle East. What makes people believe that the WWE, will not develop a relationship with other nations like Japan, India, Mexico and S. Africa? Allowing nations to buy them out! We are in a Global Market Economy! 🤔
Been dead it sucks really.
What if one of the Japanese wrestling companies buys WWE
Trump needs to buy Vince
Everyone has been saying wrestling died in the 80's. I think if a company like Endeavor buys WWE its one of the best things that could happen to it. UFC is the biggest and most popular it's ever been. WWE could easily continue with a company like them.
Someday Raw will only air on tape delay in FS1. Decline is inevitable. But hopefully we will always have access to the old stuff.
When Jim says wait a few years until I’m “completely retired “ he means dead…
Professional wrestling died when the territories died.
Wrestling died with the attitude era 😢
