People also asked for a Black Flag 2 but got skull and bones so i’m not at all surprised at Ubisoft not listening to the public‘s opinions.
Not really a revolt, more a digruntled slacktivist response.
Sweet Baby Inc and DEI are Cultural Terrorist!
I'm done with ubisoft, Avatar was last game from them for me, got it for 25$ only because i'm big fan of a movie and the game is pretty ok and got insane graphics.
But that aside i ignored ragnarok/ AC:Mirage and Outlaws and AC Shadows are big no-no for me.
Grumpy Grandpa here. Assassin DEI game. Taking studios out one at a time. A true assassin.😂😂😂😂
Japan should sue ubisoft
And thinking that notre dame reconstruction is based on the model from the same guys that shit on the japanese architeture in this game. Nice job ubisoft… Nice job
It goes to show that UBI SOFT and many other developers only see DEI as a marketing tactic. The disrespect is so obvious.
They should take the tax credit and counsel the game. This is really offended Japanese culture and they take this really seriously. Sony is Japanese It's literally a Tokyo corporation. These are people who are samurai families. They might even receive an imperial order. Yep Japan still has an emperor. And why he doesn't have much official power official power and real power are two different things. He represents the symbolic cultural existence of Japan and quite literally some of those family heads will kill themselves for him. And this damages the face of Japan. Yeah I don't think Ubisoft understands the mindset of a country that the leaves in nobility and Lords samurais and emperors. Or that it's still exists to this day. Japan lives for its culture. And they just took a sh1t on it.
Yes Ubisoft could wind up being banned from Japan.
Dumb
They are now bent on making Japanese people out to be black racists.
Do they not realize that through their misinterpretation of DEI and their own laziness and arrogance, they have themselves lost a great business opportunity to make money and credit praise that money cannot buy? It is foolish.
Ironically Yasuke himself would be the most offended. He was a Christian trained by Jesuits. And would never have taken oath of a samurai that essentially places the war Lord before all else. Including Jesus. He would never want to be portrayed as gay. He was a Jesuit raised Christian. A Christian! He's running around with a sword killing people a man who only received a short sword for self-defense not a katana. A katana which is only used to kill. The short sword he had could even have been a knife which has other uses. This is a Christian he wouldn't have carried a katana. He wouldn't have been an assassin or a killer in general. He left his country to become a Christian missionary think about that for a moment. That's actually cooler than leaving Africa to be a samurai. That doesn't even make sense. Not to mention he was only in Japan 18 months. Some of those people practice drawing a samurai sword for 5 years everyday before the allowed to use it in battle. Any instantly becomes a master at it and is killing Japanese like I would slaughter a village of Smurfs .. with their own cultural traditional weapon?!
And somehow he neglects to get a family name which is what you get when you become a samurai! And it would have become his first name. Also some would say renouncing his baptism. Yeah something No 15th century Christian would have allowed.
😮
I'm pretty sure that 70% of the video game industry needs to be reevaluated I understand what making money means and targeting an audience If you want to target a specific audience like demon souls did nobody liked that game except for a few people who were looking for that game because it wasn't out… Make entertainment industry great again.

日本人は妄想の日本の歴史、文化を否定した。その結果、我々は人種差別主義者と言われた。現代では我々を奴隷にできない。その代わりに彼らは我々の歴史や文化を奪おうとしている。我々は声を上げ続けます。

Thank you for touching on this issue.
The Japanese denied the delusional Japanese history and culture. As a result, we were called racist. Today they cannot enslave us. Instead they are trying to take away our history and culture. We will continue to speak out.
If people want to express their vision they shouldn't piggyback onto an existing IP to do so. If your vision can't stand alone without Star Wars, Suicide Squad, Silent Hill, Assassin's Creed, ect maybe you aren't actually making content for "modern audiences".
There was a black samurai, but the game isnt about him and the period isnt correct for when he was alive
One of their "experts" is an expert on old monks and little boy relations
From what I understand, the creative director for Shadows is a total prick, who has a sordid history of abusing his employees.
So here’s how I see it: the director, determined to meet the deadline, forces the employees to take as many shortcuts as possible. Consequences be damned.

after watching the 2024 France Olympic Opening ceremony, I realized their entire nation has gone mad and we're lucky they didn't make Yasugay a drag queen.
Let's just hope it's don't sell well
“Revolt” 😂 trust me, no one is giving this a second look other than your typical mid-western conservative white American. Yknow…like you. lol
「ヤスケが伝説の侍ではない」と言うと「差別主義者」と言われるのはわかっていたので、皆さんが正しく理解して、援護してくれるのは、ありがたいです。感謝します。
People will buy this game in the millions, they shouldn’t, but they will.
😂😂😂😂 dont believe news outlets
Do you ever refer to Asia as "oranges"?
Apparently, in an ACS interview, UBI said that you could cut an orange with a sword, but I don't want to think that he was referring to us Japanese.
However, there are no oranges in the game, and in real life oranges became common much later.
Also, when explaining about a sword, the reference to cutting an orange suddenly came up, so I wondered why it was orange.
I doubt I would buy this even as a 'freebie' and I was really looking forward to a Japan AC game. Ubi humped the bunk on this one
Ubisoft had sooooo many other options with Yasuke to make him a memorable part of Shadows. Like, have Yasuke actively hunt you as you play through the game and fight against Odas men. Make him an intimidating and lethal enemy that you have to run from whenever you encounter him. Kinda like the Phylake, Mercenaries, and Zealots from the previous games. Only once you have played through the story and leveled up are you able to confront Yasuke. Make him a challenging boss with like 3 stages. He could use a Yari/Naginata then switch to a Tetsubo/Kanobo and then finally a Katana in final stage. He could have been a loyal servant of Oda, willing to die for him, bc Oda honored him with a stipend and land. He could have been so cool man.

When I saw the staging of Marie Antoinette beheaded by guillotine at the recent Paris Olympics opening ceremony, I understood that "Oh, this is self-mockery in the French way for making the statement that 'death by beheading was a common cause of death in Japan at that time'" (LOL).
I don't know which one of us is more barbaric to be okay with such a bloody performance at the Olympics, which should be a ceremony of peace.
Ubi is completely unaware that they are making a racist game.
As for the game, if Yasuke was used in a silly fantasy story, Japanese people would not have had a problem with it, but in this game, Japanese people are depicted as servile, and Yasuke destroying Japanese bodies by defeating them and crushing their heads is unbearable to watch. These depictions clearly show the unconscious racist thoughts of the white people who made it towards Asians, including Japanese, and black people, including Yasuke. These depictions should be deleted. And UBI treat Japanese people who disagree with this as racists. Also, the unauthorized use of images of important cultural properties in this game is still unresolved, so it will become a problem in the future. How much will they anger Japanese people?
Also, since the issue of Thomas Lockley's falsification of Japanese history was exposed in this game, the issue of Yasuke has now shifted to that. This is why a member of the Japanese House of Councilors is investigating the game. People who don't know about this call Japanese people who criticize it racist. It is unclear to what extent the incorrect image of Yasuke has been spread overseas by Lockley's book and the anime based on it, so any depictions that reinforce this should be removed.
I'm so tired of hearing "more of a retainer", please stop using this phrase; there is no need to qualify being NOT A SAMURAI. Plenty of people in history have not been samurai, Yasuke not being a samurai should not be inherently damaging to people's fee-fees, he does not need a classification of historical status to be NOT A SAMURAI. Nobody cares if Yasuke was more of a novelty to entertain the Imperial Japanese court, NOT A SAMURAI is a perfectly fine historical status for anyone who is NOT A SAMURAI.
So far we have yet heard the game is getting banned in Japan. I am surprised they still haven’t done so considering how much backlash it received. As for getting it canceled, forget it. As much as it’s true that the game is badly flawed, no one has the rights, not even Japan to get its release cancelled worldwide. If Japan intended to go down to the rabbit hole with this, then they would basically create a precedent that no games can be released unless the subject countries involved in the game approve the releases. Therefore it would also hurt Japanese gaming companies who want to create games about other nations. For instance, Japan also would not be allowed to make games about America, Europe or anywhere else in the world unless the game contents have been proofread by these countries. If Many Americans are not happy with anime featuring fan services, then they should also be allowed to get them cancelled. Does that sound like a good idea to Japan? Lets not make it a lose lose proposition.
I still buy, I am curious how they would represent that character since yasuke is the part of one of the first foreign people to cross Japan
It would be a victory, if they delete this stupid game
Who cares it's just a fucking game get over yourself
Yasuke was barely even a 'retainer'. He was Oda's novelty jester, someone he kept around to show his prestige and power.
