  1. Hey John, never thought I’d come across you ever. But it was great to meet you in front of Tokyo station.

One tip: there are 3 bar codes associated with visit Japan web. They will ask only for the bar code and look for the color and shuffle you to the next stage. Tip: screen shot the bar codes but do not crop personal info out. And you should be golden! Make sure all dates are correct or they will scrutinize you a bit more. Thx John for the you found me card!!

  2. First of all: 1080p -> wow. Looking good overall! Second: we are coming to Japan next year and we will be bringing hiking backpacks. Is this considered to be over sized luggage? We'll be traveling on the shinkansens a lot! What kind of backpack would be considered medium size that doesn't need extra reservations (maybe in Liter – volume)? I'll take this to your awesome Discord community as well. Thanks for the vids!

  3. When I arrived at Haneda Airport at 530pm, it took about 1 hr to clear… probably due to other flights arriving at the same time and possibly due to staffing.
Also as of now only the Tokaido/Sanyo/Kyushu shinkansen lines require reservations for oversized luggage.

  4. As usual John your videos are a blessing to travelers. We are ending our 21 day trip this Tues. Knowing what to do only because you advised the viewers with the Japan web app . With a family of 5 it went pretty smoothly. You do get moved around and there where a few folks not having the right info. But for us it went well. Thanks so much Mate. We will continue to watch when we get back to Australia. Hello from Downunder ( Osaka) 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘

  5. Hi John, the visual is so much better with this app! Love it!! When I arrived Japan, there were people with pink vests waiting to check the Visit Japan app as soon as I got out of the jet way. They were making sure you had the app ready before you actually arrived to the immigration area. I had it ready to go and was blue, so it went really fast. They took pic of me, immigration agent stamped my passport, then I was off to pick up the luggage and to through customs. I also used the same app to go through the customs. You scan the app on a machine they have, go to the agent and say nothing to declare (in my case) and I was done! Easy peasy!! Make sure you complete the information on the app, have it ready when you deplane, including the customs declaration section. Love how easy it was!! 🥰

  7. Altought I've never been to Japan I've gotten so used to that bird sound and that other sound you hear all over the place in the streets in Japan that I sometimes hear them in my mindn when I cross streets here in my home country.

  8. Didn’t know this channel could get any better. Great job on the quality. Some minor video lags that messed with the audio but it went back to normal within seconds. Thank you for the updates and your hard work to always improve your craft.

  9. We got the QR codes done before we flew to Tokyo and the exit in immigration is supposed to be quick but there were several flights that arrived together with our airline so the line was super long. However, those with small children, handicapped and elderly they were in shorter lines

  11. Advice on having the app ready is spot on. The lines early on are efficient, but if you stall fumbling for app operations you have a lot of people at the immigration line get ahead. This is the choke point.

  12. Hello John!!!! I guess if people travel with family and bring big luggage, the best is to rent a car??? Or is it impossible for a foreigner for the first time in Japan to drive there???
