  1. Trumps election is a classic tale of how the common voter does not understand economics. During his first term he reduced interest rates and corporate tax rates. This is a very risky strategy to encourage short term growth. Issue is, you are basically eroding any way for the government to deal with economic downturn and emergencies. Once covid hit, the US was basically left out to rot. The Biden administration really had no choice but to rebuild what was lost due to covid and its economic implications. Of course in the wake of an economic catastrophe its gonna be rough for people. The sad reality is people do not understand economics or time and so simply blamed the consequences of covid on Biden, when it was Trump who dismantled the economic safeguards in the first place. What americans have to hope for now is the unrealistic scenario that there will not be any economic catastrophes in the next 4 years, because if Trump repeats what he did last term, he will once again play a risky game.

  2. The body clock probably helps, but so does the musical jingle for each station, I think. It used to help me a lot in Tokyo when I was reading, and my primal brain would snap me back to reality when I reached my stop and heard the jingle.

  3. thanks guys good content – always enjoy hearing how Japanese people feel. Fell asleep on a train in Chicago once and they let me sleep. When I woke, I was in the roughest area and the people on the train all looked like they wanted to kill me. Glad I got out alive. 🙂

  4. Liberal excesses followed by conservative backlash. It happened in 1980, 1994, in 2000, 2010, 2016, and 2024. In 2 or 4 years, the pendulum will swing back left, they'll screw things up again, and then we'll have another rightward wave. Americans have short term memories.

  5. Someone needs inform the hipster beard guy that Trump isn't just popular recknecks, he had the popular vote and gained points in blue states.

I also think they are just discussing global concerns without comprehending he was elected primarily for what's happening in our country.

  7. Definitely struggle with the energy drinks, mostly became habit and now they do just make me sleepy. Even when I have coffee it is usually a latte or something and not black coffee. Just such bad stuff for health, hoping to improve and stop drinking them.

Recommend the Abroad in Japan book to everyone, it is one of my favourite of all time. As someone who grew up a bit of a fangirl for Hyde it was great hearing of Chris' interactions with him 😊.

  8. Trump for Japan doesnt mean much outside of the status quo, maybe a little bit more military assets stationed there, maybe theyll ask Japan to decrease trade with China, even with Trumps hawkish cabinet i dont see the Taiwan situation changing. The incoming US president is always overhyped

  9. The company i work for imports a lot of raw materials from Chinese companies. Apparently they have already set up a warehouse distribution company in another country as a work around to avoid paying tariffs.

  10. Brits have been missing in Indo-Pacific. Need to join US for monthly Freedom of Navigation sails through Taiwan Strait. Releasing Hong Kong for people to suffer the CCP was big mistake. Odds were rough, but England should've at least helped Hong Kong gain independence.

  11. Coffee dehydrates you AND prevents absorption of many vitamins and nutrients into blood cells. Obviously alcohol is toxic to several aspects of the body and health. The sugars, caffeine and acids in most energy drinks will kill you. Drink Green Tea everyday instead; it helps burn fat, maintain healthy heart, keep blood organs and skin healthy, prevents illness/infections. Gyokuro and Matcha are some of most powerful teas in the world 🍵 💪

  12. Our country is broken. Our government failed us, the working class and our national security. It allowed a extremely privileged con artist traitor to be able to run for office again. All the cases against him are pretty much thrown out the window. He's a free man now and most people don't even realize it. They've been using psychological warfare to manipulate the public through social media and unfortunately we live in a idiocracy too. It's embarrassing and shameful. Divided we fall!

  13. I don't really understand why people assume the world is more likely to go to war with Trump as president. His presidency was the most peaceful we've seen in decades due to the peace deals, progress w/ North Korea, his administration's plan to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, and most importantly, not actually starting any new conflicts. Not to mention the fact that it wasn't under Trump that the Russia-Ukraine or most recent war in Israel were started. If people want to say they don't like his personality, political beliefs, etc., that is understandable, but he's not shown with his track record to actually result in more wars, but rather less. He's just got a big mouth, but other world leaders certainly respect him more than they do Biden, even if they don't like him.

  14. It's amazing how people will vote against their best interests. The nicest thing I can say about them is that they are 'willfully ignorant'. An administration's policies take several years to go into effect. Trump gave tax breaks to billionaires and corporations and slashed regulations, which is why the economy has been terrible. Biden has been working to fix it. Trump brought us to the brink of war over and over again during his presidency, and has promised to let Russia, China, and Israel 'do whatever they want', even actively hindering peace talks.

So anyone who voted for Trump due to the 'economy' or being 'anti-war' is either lying to themselves, or have been living under a rock for the last 8+ years.

I believe that a lot of people voted for Trump because Trump has promised to hurt the people they don't like. LGBT+ people, minorities, women, etc. I sincerely hope those Trump voters experience the harm on themselves that they hope Trump will inflict on the people they don't like. Maybe that will open their eyes, because "caring about other people" clearly cannot be taught to them.
