Japan Fans Celebrate 2-1 Win Over Germany at Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo

As Japanese supporters in Qatar cleaned up the Khalifa international stadium after the full-time whistle of the historic victory over Germany, those in Tokyo had a different unique way of marking the 2-1 win. The Samurai Blue fans took to Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo celebrating on the sidewalks and then waiting for traffic lights to turn green before jumping on the street to jubilate. After the lights turned red, the excited fans would get off the road to allow vehicles to pass. To help control the huge congregation, were traffic marshalls holding yellow strips with whistles and megaphone speakers. It was not only a strange celebration but also an honorable one too. Japan stunned Germany with a brilliant come-back win to climb top of Group E. It was Japan’s first-ever win over Germany in the World Cup.
