Japan earthquake: Rescue efforts reach critical point as weather conditions deteriorate | DW News

Japanese rescuers searched for survivors of the New Year’s Day earthquake on Wednesday ahead of predicted freezing temperatures and heavy rains that threatened to bring about landslides. The devastating quake rattled Ishikawa prefecture on the west coast of the main island of Honshu, killing at least 62 individuals and destroying hundreds of buildings and sparking fires. The destruction isolated the remote area, and rescuers have since struggled to find survivors.

  1. Making people believe the earthquakes are man-made is so malignant 😮 don't they understand that with crowd of unpredictable conspiracy theorists out there nobody will dare to invest in earthquakes forecasting? The technology is within our reach, but it's not being reached for

  4. This was a 10, not a 7.5, shindo 7 w/ 7 aftershocks, just like or worse than Fukushima in 2011, that was a shindo 7 that broke the 12 foot dia water pipes in half, be ready for a media blackout, there will be meltdowns

  5. Japan’s government reduced the budget for disasters by 71 percent In the last 10 years. The disaster victims at evacuation center in Wajima City say there is no food and water, though it's been two days after the earthquake. Still many people are trapped under the rubble, but Kishida didn’t send enough number of the Self-Defense Force. Our corrupt government is not interested in saving the lives of their people.

  6. Luckily, the people on the rubble can have a rescue chance, while in Gaza, thousands of women and children died on the Rubble because no rescue was allowed to enter. This news channel is another that supports criminal wars, that’s mainstream media.
