  1. Non of this over priced new sustainability BS for this Aussie. Prefer to stay where normal Japanese stay. Why stay with other western that usually cause some sort of trouble? Better to stay with Japanese as they are very well behaved and respectful in general.
Some of us westeners who understand really do appreciate πŸ™ that so very much vs drunken load yobbos that destroy rooms and make room service cry when they open their door.

  2. I'll be visiting Japan in the springtime, I think I'd like to move there long term but I'm going on a holiday to just see it for myself first.
I plan to spend several weeks seeing different cities firsthand~ This video made me decide Nagano should be on my list of places!

  3. Just after your opinion. Does this high investment in ski resort areas and their like ensure that the remote areas, say beyond several hours from Shinkansen will remain at their current affordable prices? My personal choice is to be away from popular destinations to retire into a quiet place.
In Australia even those quiet remote places are now beyond reasonable affordability.

  4. The redevelopment of Myoko Kogen led by Ken Chan (CEO of the Singapore‑basedΒ Patience Capital Group) really can't be overstated. It'll potentially be another Niseko in due course, but located in Niigata/Nagano.

  5. Serious question. Do you have any concerns that the predicted huge increase in tourism will radically change the charm and atmosphere of these areas? It’s great that people are realising how amazing Japan is and will create jobs.

  6. It's cheaper for an Australian to fly to Japan and go skiing than it is to go skiing at home.

Was debating either a research trip to Japan or putting money into an investment fund, and now my decision just got harder lol. Hopefully Nagano doesn't turn into another Bali though

  7. The big one i notice is there's more and more push by channels to dissuade people from coming because "you'll never be japanese"

And I never understood this. Of course I'm not going to be Japanese. Cause I'm not Japanese. I'm happy to be a person who lives here and respects the local culture and people.

If anything, bringing your own culture and perspective is well enough enjoyed, as long as we remain respectful.

Being a Nagano-ken resident myself, this video is incredibly heartwarming. Around new years, I noticed a ton of foreigners in Matsumoto, many behaving very well, especially at the shrines during the new years festivities. Had a chat with a pair of swedes who were great.

It's all awesome to see. I'm happy I bought a house here and am settling in well. Looking forward to more good times ahead!

  8. About time for investment (competition) coming into Nagano. Most of the existing hotels are outdated with mediocre food while charging crazy prices. They also don't seem to get enough local personal willing to work for 1000 Yen/hour. We encountered quite a few European waiters and reception staff last winter.

  9. Japaneses Alps, gotta take advantage of them. It's beautiful there. Hopefully they don't build it up too much or let it sprawl out. It would be nice if they built more train lines to there. ie Nagoya -> Nagano

  10. If Japan can ease visa restrictions, build up tourism outside of the usual places, all while staying "Japanese" and fairly homogeneous (which is the bedrock of the beauty of the country in the first place) then I am bullish AF on Japan.

  11. Awesome video, answered a lot of questions and provided a good source of information for friends of mine who may be interested in the Japanese small business prospects as well! As you said it seems that now is the time to get a foot in, and and that every business type you can imagine in support of a tourist area will be flourishing shortly. I appreciate the ending shot of the pizza oven after our conversation yesterday. Your dough looks absolutely amazing brother! Forgive me if it's answered in a video I have not viewed yet, did you build the oven yourself?

  12. On my first trip to Japan last January I absolutely loved Nagano after being in Tokyo. Was really nice to walk around in the snow at Matsushiro Castle Ruins. Very peaceful

Also had my favorite ramen I think from my trip at Ramen Misoya by Nagano Station

    Thanks for the video!

  13. I like listening to your videos, a subscriber for over a year now. I want to make you aware of your high rising terminal, or uptalk, particularly at he beginning of each video, which can make listening slightly more difficult. Anyway, you don't need to listen to me, some random yt person.

  14. It is good to hear that things are improving for Japan economically and other-wise. As a North American, I would love to see us have more trade with Japan and to have more access to things Japanese. As a practicing Zen Buddhist, I must admit that I prefer the more traditional side to Japan. I have little interest in the more Westernized side of things. With our uncertainties as to what Communist China is up to, Japan and South East Asia may provide the kind of perfect buffer and support that we all need!
