Organ prelude: I call to Thee, Lord Jesus Christ J. S. Bach
*Hymn: Thou whose almighty word No. 291
Welcome, Announcements & Worship Theme
CALL TO WORSHIP:
“In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:1-3)
We gather for worship in order to give thanks for the gift of creation and ponder the ways our thanksgiving may lead to love and care for life in it.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and lived among us…” (John 1: 1,14)
We gather for worship in order to give thanks for the Word of God made flesh in Jesus, whom we confess to be the Christ. And we seek to understand the mystery of his personhood and purpose in coming to us.
ALL: Let us worship God with thanksgiving in our hearts and a spiritual curiosity and hunger for deeper understanding.
*Hymn: Praise him, praise him No. 372
Prayer of Approach, Confession & The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
The Peace of Christ be with you all;
And also with you.
