JAIL IN ITALY: Felons on Europe's last prison island Gorgona | WELT Documentary

In the middle of Europe lies the prison island of Gorgona. Off Italyโ€™s coast, around a hundred serious criminals serve their sentences here. The convicted criminals spend their days behind thick prison walls at night and demanding work on the plantation during the day. The guards are unarmed but operate an efficient surveillance system of dynamic control. Those inmates who fail to parry are transferred back to one of the overcrowded detention centers on the mainland.

  1. This is very good documentary. I wish all the prisoners and staff the best. I hope the prisoners go back to society and stay the true course of a productive life within the law. And I hope that someone will remove Alessandro's AK47 tattoo ( it will help with him getting employment ). Ciao a tutti. Al boca la lupo

  2. This is not the only island prison without walls in Europe. I can think of one such off the top of my head in Norway, where the nazi terrorist Brevik is held. There's another in the Sea of Marmara in Turkey, arguably in Europe, too.

  3. This is a great documentary, prisons should be a place of reforment and having prisons like these would give a better value to the society than those ones that operate based on hard conditions and severe violence, this prison sure does a great job and thanks also to the administration that runs this facility

  4. Get out, then swim away..lead them away and with great breathing practice return and wait….then you need a fast boat to take you to a place near Africa/ spain then advance to France..from there make connections with UK from there I would be saved by the RNLI and escorted to the UK…job done
