Another good reason to not meme kan that red dragon is that it actually reduces your hand's value since you're opening it.
Hand is 5200 when open, while with riichi it's mangan.
Mangan always gives you 2nd place, while 5200 does not unless you specifically ron leftlord.
I love closed kans, but calling an open kan when you have a closed hand is almost always a throw.
