  1. Should have been GotY IMO. The gameplay itself is just okay but the writing, characters, and story were really fantastic and covered up and let down from the gameplay. More than anything this game gives me hope for the next Mass Effect with the writer, Mary DeMarle, now being at BioWare as Narrative Director.

No offense but TurboShawn's takes on this basically just felt like he was being contrarian for the sake of it. Maybe that's a bad take from me (it probably is). Not even finishing the game also makes it kind of hard to hear takes as well… it's not THAT long.

  2. This felt less like an actual discussion of the game and more of a review by committee. Not excited to see any more of these if they are all gonna be like this. The only person that seemed to have brought a discussion point to the table was Randy. Also TurboShawn seems more pretentious for the sake of "I've hosted an episode of the podcast, I now have to have hot-takes for hot-takes" sake. Also not sure why Somebody who didnt play through most of the game was even pulled in for a discussion of the game as a whole….

  3. I also really respect the insane amount of dialogue they wrote for this game. A lot of the times you need to interact with the environment, if you tell the wrong person to help, they often have unique dialogue to tell you no in that specific scenario

  4. Eidos Montreal is one of the best devs studios in gaming industry. Loved the work they did with Guardians, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.
So glad that they started working on another Deus Ex game (based on Jason Schreier tweets)

  5. I didn't like it at first, which is a serious problem if you don't like the first half of a 10+ hour game, but by the time I finished it, I liked it enough to see it as a decent or maybe even a good game (~7.5/10).

The thing that I didn't like was the constant hate between the Guardians, especially Rocket was getting on my nerves. The writing was poor (not too poor but not great), comic book level or maybe dumb movie level, which might have been their target, considering it is a comic book franchise and a movie franchise (I loved the 2nd movie btw, it was stupid fun and hilarious). The combat was boring so I knocked it down to the easiest difficulty because I just couldn't bother doing encounters again from the start every time I died.

My mind changed as soon as the Guardians started liking eachother, and when new abilities unlocked and combat became more interesting. I liked Mantis' character a lot, thought she was hilarious and the voice actress had a very natural sounding delivery (for a girl that is absolutely nuts!).

I'm not sure why the people who didn't beat the game were allowed to discuss it on this show, and I think finishing the game should be a requirement for future shows, since this game really does have two different halves to it, the boring one with basically no combat abilities and boring passive aggressive dialogue, and the fun 2nd half.
