Sony Defeats Apple Without Even Trying
https://mobilegamer.biz/under-2000-people-have-paid-to-play-resident-evil-7-on-ios-estimates-say/
Appmagic estimates suggest that Resident Evil 7, the latest console game to arrive as an iOS exclusive, has attracted under 2,000 paying customers.
As we reported a couple of weeks ago, big-name console game ports like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 and Death Stranding have all performed poorly since release. All of these titles have been promoted by Apple in its keynotes as examples of its new iPhones’ technical capabilities.
The latest of those games, Resident Evil 7, was released on July 2. But perhaps unsurprisingly, market estimates suggest it’s the same story for Capcom’s latest iOS port. It has been downloaded just over 83,000 times since it was released on July 2, according to Appmagic.
The same data source suggests Resident Evil 7 has earned Capcom an estimated $28,140, a figure that does not include Apple’s 30% platform cut. Add the 30% and divide that by the $20 fee to unlock the full game and even with some generous rounding up you land at under 2,000 paying customers.
As we’ve reported previously, it seems the only way these console game ports make any sort of business sense is that Apple is paying for the likes of Capcom and Ubisoft to bring them to iOS, but that is unconfirmed.
Resident Evil 7, like most of the other console titles Apple has (presumably) helped bring to iOS, is only playable on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, plus high-end iPads with an M1 chip and above.
Shorter Games are Here. Is it bad?
Team Asobi has revealed Astro Bot PS5‘s estimated length in a new interview, and those who like to chase Platinum trophies / 100% completion will be pleased to note that it won’t be a huge time sink. According to creative director Nicolas Doucet, it should take players an average of 12-15 hours to beat the campaign, depending on their play style.
In an interview with French YouTuber Julien Chièze, Doucet said that Team Asobi didn’t want to unnecessarily stretch Astro Bot’s length out, and prioritized quality over quantity. From the get go, the development team didn’t set unrealistic targets like making a 20-30 hour experience, and in doing so, avoided making levels feel repetitive.
Doucet added that Astro Bot is being built with an overhauled engine, so players should expect better physics and graphics than Astro’s Playroom.
Gears E-Day Coming to PS5?
https://insider-gaming.com/gears-of-war-e-day-job-listing-hints-at-playstation-release/
When Gears of War: E-Day was announced back in June, many fans wondered if it would be a console exclusive to Xbox or if a PlayStation release would also happen. Fast-forward a month later and a job posting is hinting at a possible release on Sony’s platform.
The Coalition is looking for a senior online client engineer to work on Gears of War: E-Day. This position, according to the post, will “help build the multiplayer and online experience” of the game, including “in-game economies and commerce, session management, player statistics, user generated content, and matchmaking”.
As part of the preferred qualifications for the job, the listing mentions prior experience working with online platforms such as Xbox Live, Steam, and, yes, the PlayStation Network (PSN).
While having experience with PSN doesn’t necessarily confirm that a PlayStation launch of the game is guaranteed, it’s interesting enough that it was specifically mentioned. We know the game is certain for Xbox and Steam, which is why it makes sense to see it in the listing.

Just wait for the games to go on sale
The job listing says steam and other online systems, honestly i think this is just grasping at straws if you ask me
i platinum trophied spiderman 2 in 32 hours 🥲
Who cares if you play your games while working out kinda smart makes it more interesting….and as far as games getting shorter That's BS im already SICK OF spending 75-100 (depending on version) to get a game I beat in a few hours That's bs and to me personally a SCAM …IF ya don't like LONG games DONT PLAY THEM But WE THE STORY MODE GAMERS WANT LONG GAMES
I am 1 trophy away from the resident evil village platinum trophy and it isn't even hard it mapmatician but because of the s rank trophy I just can't play it
The yelling at commenters thing keeps happening and it comes off as massive insecurity. Just ignore it and move on.
Now I agree to some extent on the game length. Like if it’s 100+hours, that can be a bit much unless the game is amazing. AC odyssey for me was one of those that are worth it.
But like Valhalla, I’m 70 hours in and still not done, already burned out and struggling to finish it. The first 50-60 hours were so much fun, but then it just got repetitive and bland.
So again, it depends on the game for me, but most games could easily be 30-40 hours long and be plenty.
Like the length of a far cry game is around 30-40, and that feels good. I feel like I got my money out of it and had fun the whole time.
But if these companies think that we will pay $50-$70 for a game that is 15-20 hours long like mirage, or a trash heap like skull and bones, then I’m not ok with that.
Edit: another great example of this going the other way. Ratchet and clank a rift apart was one of my favorite games ever, and I beat it in 2 days. But it’s fun enough that I still go back and just play around in that amazing game world.
Thanks for saying it sucks cause it does. No way I’m playing RE4 on my phone. Mirage even worse. However! Streaming is amazing though and has made gaming on a phone completely viable. Streaming doesn’t shred battery. It’s brilliant.
I use mirror play for PS5 games (you can full screen and set bit rate to max) and moonlight for PC games (you get 4k streaming at 120 fps if your phone can do it, works flawlessly 99 percent of the time for me). Played countless hours this way. Gaming on a phone is definitely here. Not to mention emulating psp and ds games with no jailbreak now. Also superb experience.
If a games wrapped in a afternoon I'm getting a refund…
I prefer a shorter mainline campaign experience…30 hours or so. I dont mind spending $70 on such a game that is complete and polished. Make me want to play the game for 60-120 hours with well written and compelling side content.
You are freaking crazy horizon forbidden west is better than ghost of tashima
I’ve played games like destiny 2 or nfs for 1200+ hours and I still enjoy it
Unchartered games are the right length. That with a AAA quality story telling, lovely. Haha
bros blackpilled
Microsoft are not releasing Gears of War E-Day on PS5, and why would they? It's never previously featured on PlayStation and PS gamers are not familiar with it. It doesn't make any logical sense unless Microsoft planned on releasing the entire franchise on there, which wouldn't work anyway because PS5 is not backwards compatible with PS3/360 games.
OOOOO GEARS ON PS NO WAY
IM EXCITED 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Man's sensitive about his treadmill
I have the PS5 and when the PS6 comes out I will get ot
If I'm paying 70 pluss notes for a 15h game. There is no chance I'm buying it. 70 for a 100+hour game. Yes I'd pay if I liked it
If the main story is over 20 hrs I don’t want.
The only game I got on my iPhone 12 is call of duty mobile best mobile game and I haven’t touched it since I got my ps5 😂😂
What's happening with gunman contracts
It’s gears of war E-day multiplayer only and no campaign
