'It's freezing!': British Army's new Gurkha recruits arrive in UK

New Gurkha recruits have arrived in the UK ready to start the next phase of their training in North Yorkshire.

For some of the 170 recruits arriving from Nepal to a cold and damp Manchester Airport in three groups over a two-day period, it was the first time travelling in an aircraft.

The recruits’ new home for the next nine months will be Infantry Training Centre Catterick, where they will be put through their paces in a bid to join the Brigade of Gurkhas.

  1. UK so pathetic no one is even attacking the UK it has been the UK joining America attacking Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and now joining in attacking Russian troops, and the UK has depleted its resources with Neoliberalism on steriods and bogus wars, it needs to recruit foreign troops. As long as they are not people in need coming over in boats, the Brits love them. lol

  4. Nepali ramro manche hun, I just came over to Nepal from the UK and am staying with a retired Gorkhali in Kathmandu. His family are lovely and so welcoming and are really looking after me, and the food, I don’t know what to say. I did mention the house should be called Aama ko khajar ghar 😂👍 🇳🇵🇬🇧
And like wise, the heat here is killing me. Although I don’t miss cold icey and wet Britain 😮

  5. Any Gurkha who comes here to serve Britain should be housed and given a comfy pension as well as their families. Their humility is also astounding. All the respect to these men and god bless them

  7. We have 45.000 illegals invaders in 4 star hotels that should be doing the same as these decent Gurkha chaps, then they would have a right to stay here. I have always admired the Ghurka's and their dedication to our country.

  8. Imagine having lived all your life in a country far away and you're told to learn the language of a country on the other side of the world to you and one day you're told to go and train there to fight for that country like you're their citizen. As much as I hate Chinese politics, I applaud them for being one of those nations in Asia to stand up for themselves and not end up more or less as subservients of some other part of the world and civilisation.

  9. you brits need to put these proper soldiers to uk border force they will soon stop the illegal migrants that the British government want into the uk, for its obvious to the rest of the world the Tories are deliberately letting them in, or do you believe that the British forces can not stop unarmed men in rubber dinghies from invading the country 🤣😅😅😂😂😂🤣
