Doesn't affect me a bit XD it's like all these twitter dramas, I'm not concerned because both of these services are kind of useless in a lot of ways therefore i don't use them.
Honestly, the blackout has been great for my feed though it appears to being fizzling out.
Maybe LTT could do a top 10 of IT execs without a clue. On second thought, considering what I know from tech history, that would probably turn into a top 100.
The only person winning here is John Oliver. He’s never had such good free advertising
Just quit moderating. Boom. If you hate doing it so much, then stop doing it. Holding Subs hostage isnt the answer, and mods that refuse to open, deserve to be removed.
Its a bad week to be stalking those forums for pc part sales….. 😔
You guys know that you can view the cached version of a website by adding cache: to the beginning of the URL? So for looking issues up, nothing really changed even if a sub is locked
At least I have
chickenJohn Oliver. The problem with locking subs open is that they can not be effectively moderated anymore with the new API pricing.
The other form of protest is to get rid of all subbreddit rules and allow all posts.
Am I missing something or did a guy just propose at 3:31 on the WAN show?

Didn't expect to see an Anime Ad
Especially didn't expect to see an for Insomniacs After School,
Good to know its being marketed somewhere, normally these seasonal anime just go by unnoticed by the majority.
What started all this off?
I refuse to go back onto the site until they fix their shit
That's how I feel about Anthony.
Perhaps getting banned by report spam four months ago wasn't so bad
Would be an interesting law suit: Right to delete your own content 😀
Prohibitive API pricing and the follow-up bear poking are the exact wrong moves that you'd only make if you wanted to irreversibly destroy trust with your userbase and force them away from your platform in droves. Just like Elon and so much of what he's doing at twitter. Just like twitch and so many of the updates they've released in the past few months.
Why are all these companies pulling a meta? Did they not see what happens when you do those exact things? Next thing you know all three are going to be releasing VR headsets and talking about the metaverse.
Two groups of people who refuse to have their internet power challenged clash.
The best part, they run off to create alternatives and immediately set things up in a way that guarantees it happens again instead of just letting the users control what they see.
Controlling who is allowed to be publicly visible is just that important to them.
Let's make a toothless threat and show the entire world we're kicked puppies by making a threat that contains the implicit promise that we'll be back in a few days.
And let's pretend that they couldn't just create replacement boards or do some fiddling to replace the mods if we actually had the balls to lock down forever.
That'll show the multi-millionaire CEO with a golden parachute and appeasement replacement waiting in the wings we mean business.
All subs should do what r/interestingaf is doing. NSFW subs can't run ads, so subs should be encouraging their users to flair their posts as NSFW to protest.
Re: the "fear mongering", that's just how internet dweebs work, unfortunately. I have a friend who worked on Halo Infinite. A guy bagging his groceries recognized his 343 shirt. Told him to his face that he hopes his family gets COVID and dies.
3:35 A MAN SHOOTS HIS SHOT GL BROTHER
I'm surprised you don't use ad blockers to show pages here.
Screw all of the subreddits who set the subs to private. 120% bs
Delete your accounts and join me, delete all social media.
Restoring content that has been explicitly deleted is illegal. That is a breach of the Right To Be Forgotten.
Legally the messages should have been deleted from the database when they pressed "delete".
Steve Hoffman has skin thinner than wet toilet paper. He removed all downvotes from any of his recent posts or comments. At least the ones I’ve downvoted of his.
This is where the #Fediverse and things like #Mastodon #Leemy and others come in. Control of the content while sharing
Think my favorite for of protest I've heard was one subreddit was forced to open. OK, well open but were going into post approval mode and it might take weeks before the post is approved. Lol
They could bought one of the good apps
The John Oliver thing definitely seems like a cry for help for John Oliver to bring mainstream attention to this controversy by teeing up perfect jokes to be made while on his show.
It’s been a great excuse for me to delete my account
The other one Linus didn't mention was a number of subs allowing NSFW content, thereby causing the entire sub to be NSFW. Meaning much less ad revenue.
It's funny when people say something hilarious in a monotone voice 5:55
I'm so happy that I deleted my account. It was a few weeks before this shitstorm, so it's so good to watch it from the sidelines while not having a horse in this race
I mean why would you ever expect a company to "act in good faith" companies are notorious for not acting in good faith
They didn't even mention the fact that Marwa E sent a proposal message over the donation chat thing at 3:28. I wonder if Chelsea said yes.
lmao at the marriage proposal @3:29
The year is 2023. The front page of the internet is dead. All hail the blood god.
luckily the blackout didn't effect tech savvy users. You can still get the cached version from before the blackout. Honestly hope we can get better deals with online corps…I'm sick of greedy over gains from these mega people.
Rossmann was right . Silicon valley CEO's really do think like rapists
