Menzies Research Centre’s Nick Cater says Chris Bowen’s plan was meant to be “tripling the amount” of renewable energy but …

  1. Eighty percent renewable power for the whole of Australia can't be done by two thousand and thirty under Federal Labours current plan.
It could be done by two thousand and forty but only with some changes to the types of renewables used and with different types of renewables concentrated in one area in remote locations to form a renewable power hub.
Unfortunately Small to Medium Modular Reactors are not meeting expectations with economies of scale involved in the lack of availability at the current time so they might not be the best option for the Australian power mix at the moment.

  2. People don't understand the concept of "base-load". You MUST have large power stations being able to pump out GigaWatts of power continuously. Only nuclear or coal can do that. Renewables cannot do that, because they are intermittent. Renewables with batteries are OK for peaking, but only just.

  3. Why are you finding it so difficult to get into the so-called 'renewable' energy? First of all, there is no such thing as renewable energy. When energy is used, it is used, and it cannot be renewed. Some of us had to learn this in high school or they wouldn't have let us go to uni'. Sadly now they're letting retards into uni' and all well and jolly good for them, but please keep them out of politics and media and don't put them on your show, Ms Credlin.

How is it that I am sitting here at a keyboard of a computer with a nice big monitor with a fridge under the desk and an air-conditioner across by the microwave oven blowing nice cool air at me and all these 12vdc and 240vac appliances are powered by a set of LiFePO4 (ie. safe) batteries which are charged by solar panels and I did the labour myself and the solar panels, batteries, controllers, circuit breakers, fuses and wiring cost me well under five grand, retail price, no rebates for me because I did it myself. Yet you've got Nick Cater on there telling us all that what I have accomplished back in 2019 is impossible. How much cognitive dissonace would that set off in your brain when someone on Sky News is telling you that something as simple, cheap, and reliable as solar power is impossible?

All it tells me is that your Nick Cater must be quite the idiot underneath the all that articulate fancy talk.

  4. The EXPERTS who ever they are are a failed group. Renewables , Inflation is Transitory oh and Covid Vaccines. The Experts are politicized .Aussies need to wake up and fast before the WEF run this country, however observing the sheeple response to Covid I have little hope.

  5. In trading, possessing technical analysis skills is not sufficient on its own; discipline and emotional maturity play crucial roles in achieving success. Embracing the mindset of "time in the market vs. timing the market" proves valuable, especially during market fluctuations. I attribute my growing daily earnings to Lukas Douglas valuable insights and daily trade signals, coupled with my commitment to continuous learning. Kudos to the journey ahead!

  6. I don’t want my tax $$ paying for this unachievable delusion! If and when they fall on their sword the guaranteed justification will be slagging off the Libs! We don’t need global examples of how it’s failing as its common sense that it is simply not practical. No accountabilty as with everything they touch!

  7. I'm trying to figure out why the Liberal Party has a Shadow Environment Minister when the party's focus is on digging up more, and more fossil fuels (there is some irony there) and then wasting the proceeds on handouts to buy votes. And what did the Liberal government do with the approximately $250 billion of money (as per the ABS) it borrowed following Abbott's election win up until before the 2019 bushfires and Covid??? I think that the sexist party had a good piss-up at the expense of all Australian taxpayers! People should really do their own research, and not rely on the idiots on this biased channel. 17,284 views in 20 hours and only 456 likes and 291 comments – a pretty piss poor acceptance rate!

  8. The only reason there was any investment in the first place, was because of the massive Government incentives, in what was supposed to be a free market, now people are realising, that the so called renewable energy, is never going to be able supply the needed base load, and they're getting out before the bubble bursts.

  9. We, are the blessed generation, we have been gifted, Chris Bowen. Renewables targets are far beyond achievable technically, it is not possible. Funding has now mostly evaporated, who wants to the impossible dream? we don't have the resources or the manpower to complete any of the targets. Undaunted, Bowen continues to spray vast amounts of cubic tax payer cash all over these pure follies, he can't see that there is no path forward. EVs are no different, these outcomes will never happen, for the same reasons. It's ok, the outcome is assured, what goes round, comes round. Elections are coming, and there nothing Albo or Bowen can change to improve the current cost of living problems. They can only get worse, which will surely self resolve on polling day.

  10. CSIRO & AEMO report says that renewables provide cheaper power than nuclear.

"Nuclear power would be the most expensive source of new energy for Australia, a report from the CSIRO and energy market regulator has estimated."

"The report says electricity generated by solar and on-shore wind projects is the cheapest for Australia, even when accounting for the costs of keeping the power grid reliable while they're integrated into the system in greater proportions over time.

The results can be found in the GenCost 2023-24 draft report"
