Israel-Palestine escalation updates: Gaza under bombardment

Fears of a huge ground invasion of Gaza are growing after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to turn the besieged Palestinian enclave into a โ€œdeserted islandโ€ in response to the worst attack his country has suffered in decades.
Israeli forces were still bombing Gaza and fighting with Hamas gunmen in parts of southern Israel in the early hours of Sunday and a spokesman for the military said the situation in the country was not totally under control.
Hamas said its unprecedented offensive by land, air and sea was in response to the desecration of the Al Aqsa Mosque as well as Israeli atrocities against Palestinians over the decades. These include the 16-year blockade of Gaza, Israeli raids inside West Bank cities over the past year, increasing attacks by settlers on Palestinians as well as the growth of illegal settlements.

  1. I just saw a headline earlier about the EU suspending over 700 million dollars worth of development aid to the Palestinians. This is shameful. They are willing to send arms and ammunition to Israel so they can carry on killing Palestinians but they are more than happy to suspend development aid to the Palestinian Authority who have nothing to do with Hamas. So the west seems bent on collective punishment of all Palestinians and they have no concern about their human rights or needs. They seem to be aiding and abetting Israel as no one has spoken out about the food, electricity, fuel or anything else being sent into Gaza.

  3. We israelies are an ancient nation. This moment in our history we will again-unite and destroy our enemy. We are a life loving nation but this is a time to release and unlish the animal inside and come down with great vengeance and might!!

  4. May leaders of the different countries of the world and UN officials use cooler heads and peaceful emotions and altogether work to put a stop to these bombings. Talk to Israeli and Palestinian leaders and seek solutions. Innocent people are sacrificed. They just want to live with their families in a peaceful environment. Let us not take sides. Reflect on what both sides are fighting for and find solutions without having citizens of both killed. Life is precious…

  6. Israel should launch the exact number of rockets back into Gaza that the Palestinians have launched into Israel

and should show the same regard for their civilians as the Palestinians have showed for the Israeli civilians.

  7. Netanyahu is asking the Palestinians to leave Gaza and go where?. With the rights of no return to their land, this will effectively give the territory to the Israelis and fulfill the main objectives of the Jewish state

  8. By far, the best recruitment for militant Islam will be the totally disproportionate response by Israel. No mention in the media of Sabra and Shatilla (led by Ariel Sharon who was then promoted to PM), or the thousands tortured in underground Israeli prisons, or the 40 Palestinian children shot and killed by Israeli forces this year alone, or the teargassed hospitals. I could go on. This may seem to be an Arab/Israeli conflict, but since 1300, there have been 11 "Pogroms" in different countries, on different continents. 11 times in 700 years, people decided there was only one solution to dealing with these people. Read your history books people.

  10. Nope. Sorry Palestinian peons, Jews came before you. Judaism came much before Islam and hence they are more entitled to live in Israel. Take your Islamic peasantry and leave that area. Go to Africa. Countries like Togo, Eswatini, Gabon and Congo will welcome you. Live there amongst the tribes. Form your own tribe. Bring back the barter system. Long live Israel.

Patriots who volunteer to take up arms and fight along with the militaries they support can remain in the battlefield.
Without a political solution, military intervention is inevitable." You said it perfectly! These athletes are on another level.
