Former Greens Advisor Ben Oquist says Israel has lost a “lot of sympathy” and “public support” after killing seven aid workers in Gaza.
Mr Oquist said the support was “rightly there” after Hamas’ attacks on October 7.
“But over time, that has waned because it doesn’t excuse the loss of thousands and thousands of innocent Palestinian lives,” he told Sky News Australia.
He noted Israel’s airstrike on the aid workers this week has “refocused” public attention on the Middle Eastern conflict.
“The Prime Minister and the government, who had tried to in a sense not take sides in this war, have been really forced to by public reaction.”

Sad consequence of a war zone where the enemy hide among the population, using ambulances, aid vehicle, civilian infrastructure to move troops, supplies etc around. Obviously there has been a mistake, and this happens in more conventional engagements let alone a conflict as murky as this one.
