Utah football could face significant challenges without its star quarterback, Cam Rising. Rising has been the heart of Utah’s offense for the past few seasons, bringing a proven skill set, leadership, and stability to the team. His ability to make plays both with his arm and legs has been crucial to Utah’s success, especially in high-pressure situations. However, with Rising dealing with an injury, the Utes may find themselves struggling to maintain the same level of performance on the field.
Without Rising, Utah will likely need to rely on a less experienced quarterback to lead the offense, which can be a difficult transition for any team. Rising’s ability to read defenses, extend plays, and command the offense has been instrumental in Utah’s recent success, including their back-to-back Pac-12 championships. His absence creates a leadership void and removes a key offensive weapon.
In addition, Utah’s schedule is unforgiving, and without their proven quarterback, they may struggle against top-tier competition. While the Utes have a solid defense and talented skill players, the quarterback position is pivotal in modern college football. A drop-off in production at that position could lead to more turnovers, fewer sustained drives, and a harder time putting points on the board.
Injuries are part of the game, but losing a player of Rising’s caliber could make it difficult for Utah to remain a top contender in their final Pac-12 season and heading into Big 12 competition. If Rising’s injury keeps him sidelined for a significant portion of the season, Utah may face more struggles than anticipated.

It is harder to win on the road. BYU is 3-0 on the road this year. Two of those against P4 teams. Not saying BYU will best Utah, but they are still getting overlooked, and thats fine with BYU.
Pistons are not Rising!
Utah thought they were going to bully the Wildcats and they ended up getting smacked in the trenches! Arizona made significant changes to their starting lineups on both lines and rotations. The biggest change was Brennan had the balls to take the play calling out of OC Dino Babers hands and handed the offense offer the TE passing coordinator. That poor kid Wilson was getting knocked down on every step back and the blame should be spread around. It was probably a good thing Cam wasn’t in there because as brittle as he is he may not have gotten up of the turf!😄
Doce Grande!!!
It sad how Utah is willing to use the excuse of an injury for poor performance. Iowa State has 5 linebackers with injuries, yet they are still the best defense in the B12. The next man up at Iowa State is fully capable of keeping ISU at the top. Sorry, Utah, but get some depth and stop whining.
Cam Rising is a softie. Delicate as a piece of porcelain
They will get at least 2 more losses
If only BYU had Jaren Hall… move on from rising all ready.
JT’s criticism of BYU scoring off of short fields is hilarious. BYU gets the ball at the 27 yard line and two plays later is in the end zone. Utah gets the ball in the red zone … turnover on downs after going for it on 4th. Seems like BYU executes. BYU has been turning turnovers into touchdowns. Not to mention they drove the field all over Baylor in the first half. If BYU gets competent play from Connor Pays replacement then BYU will be in good shape.
Anything can happen to any player at anytime. Building around a single player is a bad move for Utah. In an age where the player can also decide to not play as well like UNLV or any transfer portal option for that matter.
Hello Drake Toll's mom
Sad to hear them criticize Isaac so harshly. It’s not his fault this game wasn’t the best for him. Retzlaff’s stats were nearly the same as Wilson’s yet BYU won. Retzlaff didn’t win it for the Cougars, neither did Isaac lose it for the Utes. Execution is your only fall guy for a W or an L.
BYU in the 2nd half was playing a guard at center and 3rd string guard. Aranda saw this and started blitzing on every down. The way to beat the blitz is to throw down field and they tried but rare dropped balls and some no call egregious defensive holdings allowed the blitzes to continue. No flop sportsmanship call and BYU runs out the clock.
Here's why Utah wins the holy war. Injuries happen to all teams. Utah has been power 5 recruiting for ten years, BYU only 2. Depth is the key. Utah goes 3-4 deep at every position on the o and d lines. By week 9, BYU will be playing freshmen, etc and Utah will dominate the line of scrimmage. Especially because BYUs best lineman, Connor Pay is out and the 2nd string center is already out with injuries. Having a guard fill in at center is a mess as we saw 2nd half last week.
It's too late now. Last year when fans said conferences should let the Big 10 and SEC walk. All of you reportees and podcasters said tge conferences had to submit. The fans were right. Now that those 2 get most of the playoff money. And they control the rules. You're not getting any power back. If tge rest of college football is not willing to stand or die on their own. Then it's really nothing to talk about. These conferences are going to do what those two say. Which is irritating as a fan. But it is what it is.
Kyle Whittingham will have this game in hand. He's ready for this one. I'd never vote for the other guy after Utah last against Arizona at home. At home for goodness sake. That will make your cheeks pink.
Bear down Arizona 🐻⬇️🌵🐻⬇️🌵
Dude weee the best big 12 team stop overreacting over one game
The SEC and Big 10 are the star bellied sneetches. They can’t stand having others in their club so they have to make up a new one. Just sayin’.
It is really hard to predict the byu utah game. Both teams will play harder with more emotion in that game than any other.
Frankly…. I think Whittingham holding Rising out as long as he has, even with the single loss has been one of Whit's most brilliant moves. Rising is a Paper Mache QB. Whit knows it. Watching Rising in what video there has been of him on the sideline shows that the Hang Nail he suffered when going head to head with the Gatorade has healed. Whit is just saving Rising for the last half of the season. It's as simple as that. Whit knows if he loses to BYU that he won't have the choice of whether to retire or not. They have already picked his replacement. It has been highly obvious that the Rabid Ute Fan base has harassed and criticized Whit Unceasingly since their loss to BYU 3 seasons ago. Whit's demeanor and comments have shown that he is tired of the Ute Fan base and their BS. JT since Utah chose to join the B12 has tried to seem aloof from being one of the Rabid Ute Fans. That all has gone in the tank the last couple weeks. JT is just another one of the dislikable Utes that can't state reality. Like I said. Whit realizes that after Risings B12 Media Days BYU trash talk? Rising is going to have to put up or shut up. Frankly? With BYU's current Offense I don't think that BYU has the Horse Power to get passed Utah with Rising at the helm. There are a couple great scenario's in the great Holy War that is approaching. Beating Rising would be just enough IMO for ARod to hold on to his job at this point. Stomping on Wilson would almost be as satisfying. BYU needs to figure out how to stay healthy going into the Holy War. Retiring Whit should be the ultimate goal with shutting Rising up and forehead slapping Wilson just secondary goals….
It's hard not to be hard on Cam when the play that took him out looked like nothing. His hand hit a helmet, but did not look that bad. Seems weird that he's out so long from just that play.
BYU FAN HERE. Wow ! Tough on Cam. I don’t know the context but how does his injury prone compare to Taysom Hill. Taysom got hurt a lot because he was put in harms way; with an NFL team beside him he’s done very well (barring current injury).
BYU's offense gained >40% of available yards in the KSU game.
Why the disproportionate amount of coverage for BYU and then Utah? I think the Arizona schools at least merit equal coverage. And where is the Iowa State coverage? wtf?
Over Confidence is Utah’s two middle names.
As a prior BYU player, and a BYU and Alabama fan (strange I know), I agree with pretty much everything that JT says in this video. Great job guys!
It's a big mistake to write the utes off. Im a BYU fan and that team up north loses 2 or 3 games every year and they always seem to end up in the conference championship game.
