Successful offensives in the north and south eased the threat to Kharkiv and reclaimed Kherson in November. Despite Russia’s struggle for the city of Bakhmut, Ukraine’s highly anticipated 2023 offensive aimed to cut the Russian land bridge to Crimea.
Unfortunately, progress was slow due to Russian obstacles, turning the campaign into a modest success. Russia adapted to Ukraine’s tactics, creating a war of attrition. Despite Western support, including tanks and cluster bombs, the war’s status remained unchanged.
Can Ukraine achieve a breakthrough before the season ends? It might. But why, up until recently, has the 2022 campaign been less than stellar so far, and how might Ukraine be able to turn the situation around?

Russia still has 335k of volunteeres that reached out on their own accord from the beginning of this year till now and will be deployed during winter offensive. Russia won't be making second conscription because of it while it has been seen invalids being forced to fight for Ukraine and people being assigned to fight after a week of training against their will while beeing taken from streets. Not sure how true it is but there are reports that Ukraine is drafting senior and even pregnant women to fight the war. They ran out of young and willing Ukrainians to fight as many started fleeing the country to avoid the draft.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult for American conservatives to support Ukraine when its own borders are open due to the malfeasance of the ultra corrupt and cognitively impaired Biden.
