Is Trudeau leading the Liberals to an election day shellacking?

The latest poll numbers are looking grim for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. According to an Abacus poll in February, the Trudeau-led Liberals are polling at 24 per cent and the PM himself is deeply unpopular among voters of all ages. More than a year out from the next election, is the incumbent government already doomed?

John Ibbitson, The Globe’s Writer-At-Large, explains the factors that have led to the Liberals’ steep decline and whether this is simply the end of a political cycle – as a new one could soon begin.

  1. The fact that the liberals still have 25% of the vote tells me after the long list of crooked incidents Trudeau has been caught in that 25 % of Canadians are as crooked as the government. I'm betting most of the liberal supporters have in some way benefited from the billions this insane government has given away.

  2. Trudeau did not handle the pandemic well. He used fear to control Canadians. So yes he managed to control a fearfull population. The vaccine didn't stop transmission and yet he forced Canadians to take a unproven vaccine. For those of us who didn't take the Fauci poison we were austrothised lost jobs and businesses. So john if you think that's successful you have no idea how people suffered under Trudeau's authoritarian rules

  3. Trudeau can’t go anywhere in Canada without being met by angry Canadians so how is he goi g to go across this country and campaign. He is the most loathed man in Canadian politics and his reputation on the international stage is even worse. The world has had enough of Trudeau.

  4. non-confidence?…………the election that poilievre has started campaigning for, with his policy/platform announcements, are well timed, and designed to rally his party's base to reengage his party, and further develop strategies, based on public opinion, and strategic implementation of demographic ideologies. But an election, well…………WHY?………………do the conservatives really have a bottomless war-chest for these meanderings?, if so, is it really a wise use of assets?….but an election, sounds to me like a FILIBUSTER to disengage and distance voters from TRUDEAU, and his party's record. PERIOD. all other matters are out of our control, usee

  6. It is more than inflation. It is Trudeau as a person. He continuously gaslights, he divides Canadians and he is so disconnected with the average Canadian. He is so often caught up in one scandal after another. Did I mention how woke he is. He no longer is the Liberal of yesterday.

  7. I hope this is true . But I will believe it when I see it . Trudeau has already started his campaign to get relected . The liberal war machine like the brought and paid for media CBC , The Toronto Star , the Globe and Mail and others . Alone with every liberal cruppted government dept . The newest members of the liberal war machine the RCMP and the Justice Department . Trudeau has turned canada into a cruppted banana republic that's how he will keep power . This Trudeau is so power hungry and dangerous, if I were Pierre Poilievre I would surround myself with body guards as if he was dealing with Putin . I firmly believe if he were alive Pierre Elliott Trudeau would tell son how discussed he is of his leadership and crupption , would never vote for his own son .

  8. February 29th is approaching quickly. The date Trudeau's "So Called" father took his walk in the snow. Canadians can only hope that he is a chip off the old block. Or is it Blockhead. Oh well father and son Blockheads ,No surprise here.
