Is this the next Doxa? Aquastar Swiss Dive Watches

Aquastar was founded in 1962 in the city of Geneva in Switzerland by Mr. Frédéric Robert. Mr. Robert, a diver, a sailor, a pilot, a mathematician and a watchmaker took over the brand JeanRichard from his father and soon changed the name JeanRichard to Aquastar to reflect the idea behind his venture, that is to create professional grade instruments for divers and aquatic activities.

Within ten years of its foundation and with the help of the genius Marc Jasinski, Aquastar had been awarded numerous patents, based on each patent a new Aquastar family member was born. The inner rotating bezel in the model 63, the multiple dive decompression bezel in the Deepstar, the Benthos and the Regate counter. the new crown sealing system and the friction bezel ring, both were incorporated in every Aquastar and finally the regatta counter watches.

Today, the man who brought Doxa to the masses, Rick Marei, is taking the brand mainstream. Can he have a similar success with Aquastar that he did with Doxa?

  1. Marc, you have to own the blue Aquastar Deepstar ll. It looks amazing on your wrist and is your color. Not to mention the science and engineering behind it that is screaming you. Absolutely a stunning watch! 🐶😊

  2. as a rebreather diver, dive watches these days are for messing around on the surface in boats. They need to be rugged and sapphire because the marine surface environment is tough on gear. Use a Shearwater Teric under the surface – it will monitor multiple dives over days and weeks, out-gassing and oxygen load, and indicate when it's safe to fly. On the subject of diameter size, you will get some small magnification under water so ~40mm is fine for snorkelling etc. But you need the blast of a lit screen in poor conditions. Lume is for sub-bedroom duvets and sleepless nights.

  3. So glad they put the square steel keepers on that NATO strap so you can hit and catch them on everything and have them poke into your wrist. It’s also excellent if you’re diving inside a wreck, and want to catch your watch on a protruding piece of metal, and get held under the water until you die.
