Is This The End? Our Life On A Scottish Island – Taking Our Boat Out For The Last Time – Ep94

Willie, Sarah and their dogs, Jack Spaniels & Nori, continue their biggest adventure yet – leaving suburban life and moving over the sea to a remote cottage on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.

This week, the Skye Lifers take their boat out for what could be the last time the season – with storms due to hit the island soon. As the sun sets on the boating season, will we managed to pull in one last catch..?

Plus, we take our newly foraged bait to do some shore fishing in a top secret spot and we celebrate two very special birthdays..!

Thanks for watching & see you in the next video!

  1. Happy Birthday to Jack and Nori! Sweet pups! Portree is such a lovely looking town, and I don’t know what you were eating, Sarah, but it looked delicious. I hope you were lucky with the crab pots, and I do agree with Willy, about night fishing being romantic. Under the umbrella with hot chocolate is very cosy. My husband and I would go fishing just before the sun came up. Lovely days!

  2. So when you called both dogs names Sarah, 'jack n' Nori', did you realize the significance??( maybe you are both too young, 'jackanory' was a brilliant children's program where someone quite well known would read parts of a story on TV. I loved even as an adult.)

  3. Got my calendar! Looking forward to the Nosey Coo artwork that will be a Christmas present. It was so fun to see the pups get to celebrate their birthdays. You bring a smile to my face each week. Cheers, and ATB!

  4. 14 years ago I rented a wee cottage on Skye with my husband, son and his wife. I remember visiting Portree and having a glass of wine outside on the picnic seats opposite the pub. A lovely memory. Now we all live in New Zealand 🇳🇿 but we love your videos. ❤

  5. Sarah what did you say you had brought with the hot chocolate when you were in the Landy? I doubt it can be what it sounds like even if Willie keeps referencing romance😂😂😂😂,

  7. I know you two only want the best for your lovely dogs – so, have you considered giving them what nature intended them to chew? That's good strong beef bones – like ox-thigh bones from your local butcher. They are cheap to buy, and last for ages. Dogs are basically wolves, and that's what wolves eat in the wild – bones are full of minerals and calcium, as well as highly nourishing bone marrow. They are not meant to chew on artificially flavoured plastic/rubber toys, that slowly leach microplastics into your dog's gut. The very slick Nylabone American website tries to convince dog owners that their fake chew bones are what dogs really need – but you are being sold a pup! My lovely dog chewed happily on an ox thigh bone every week – and it lasted her a week to break it down and absorb all its nutrients. She lived to be 16 years old – and never broke a tooth on these bones. It was her favourite treat – beef bones are like chocolate for dogs! it explains why Jack and Nori did not look too keen on their plastic bones when they ripped off the wrapping. Your doggos will be blissed out by fresh, real beef bones.

  8. a very sweet couple. would like to visit a local fish market, see what's on offer. lobster: hmm. shellfish? so much wild swimming/diving/snorkeling (throughout western Scotland). wonder what I'd see! wonder about the health of the inshore ecology/fishery. visiting in the spring, bringing my bathing suit (maybe). wonder about the treeless hills, if the trees were cleared historically, as in other areas of Scotland. a lovely area. enjoy. (suspect our weather here, in the Pacific Northwest/Puget Sound, is similar.?

  10. My late partner and I spent many months each year in the Highlands motorhoming and usually fished in Little Loch Broom. I lost so many lures in the seaweed around the Loch edge. The mackerel I did sometimes catch were delicious……apparently, as I’m allergic to all fish I cannot vouch. But my partner, bless her , loved them.

  11. I love it when we go fishing! Today, November 4th, was our first snow of the season although the ground was too warm for it to stick, it still got me thinking about the chores I need to complete to prep for winter. Hoping your winter is warm and cozy! Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.
