There is something comforting about Fell isn't there?
I remarked a bit on twits and bits(twitter lol) that this alternate route would serve much better as being in the main route. We get way more depth between Mack and Wes. It makes the loss more impactful. Comparing this to what is considered the main route, the way new characters and scenery changes happen in the main route, makes it actually look like it should be an alternate route instead. This alternate route flows well into what was built. It makes more sense. The changes are not sudden. I hope there is either some bridge building btwn the routes or a rethink about it, because this right here comes off so appropriate for the story.
