Is This A UFO?

Lately, there have been some pretty mysterious sightings in the sky and well nobody’s really sure what they are or why they’re there.

MYSTERIOUS FLYING OBJECTS
Last week we told you about this suspected Chinese spy balloon that was spotted in the US. But a lot has happened since then. And look I’m gonna be real here. It’s starting to get really confusing at this point.

To catch you up: there have now been three more sightings of strange things in US and Canadian airspace within the past week! Despite admitting the first object belonged to them, China has claimed they don’t know anything about where the others came from. And has now accused the U.S. of flying balloons over their airspace within the last year.

This whole fiasco has a lot of people scratching their heads. And with 4 mysterious flying objects spotted within the space of just 9 days. What on earth are we supposed to think about all this? The U.S. says there’s nothing to worry about. We don’t have many answers yet. So I guess we’d better buckle up for this little kerfuffle to last a bit longer.

NZ STATE OF EMERGENCY
New Zealand has declared a national state of emergency because of ex-cyclone Gabrielle. The storm is the second massive weather event to hit Auckland and the upper North Island in just a few weeks, causing flooding, landslides and huge waves. This is only the third time in New Zealand’s history that a national state of emergency has been declared, and authorities reckon there’s still more rain and heavy wind on the way.

SKATER GIRL
Queensland skateboarder Chloe Covell has just returned home after winning silver at the World Champs and now she’s got her sights set on the 2024 Paris Olympics! Imagine bagging a silver medal for Australia in the skateboarding world champs at just thirteen years old! Well, that’s what Chloe Covell from Queensland’s just done! She’s been skating since she was about six years old. And lately she’s been competing in a bunch of qualifying events for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Something she’s always dreamed of. Chloe says it’s super exciting to see how much the sport’s taken off since its debut in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. But amid the Insta-fame and high-profile sponsors like Nike Skateboarding. She’s still able to fit school into her busy schedule.

NANNA DOG SHELTER
First up, to a trio of nannas in Tasmania who have started their own dog rescue group! So far, they’ve collectively adopted 10 dogs. And whenever they get the call that another dog needs a home, they do their best to make room for one more. They’ve also come up with a fun nickname! Charlie’s Angels.

LOVE HEART SHAPED ISLAND
Now to an island up for sale off the coast of Croatia. Its unique love heart shape has earned itself the nickname: The Island of Love! And now, you can buy part of it! For a cool 20 million dollars. There are no hotels, or places to eat here. It’s pretty much just an island. But that hasn’t stopped Beyonce, Michael Jordan, or Jeff Bezos from visiting here in the past!

LOVE BUG
And finally, to a zoo in the US that is offering a rather interesting opportunity. You can name a cockroach after someone you don’t like and the zoo will feed it to one of their hungry lizards, turtles, or chickens. A lot of people have taken them up on the offer, naming cockroaches after old ‘valentines’ that didn’t work out.
