  1. i am so impressed with you discription of what sc is. you hit the nail right on the head!! it humbles you with the sheer scale of it. now imagine having dozens and dozens of star systems to explore!!! one could get completely lost in this simulation! could end up being the matrix!! 😛

  2. Great thoughts.
You are not alone with that opinion, SC is crafting the sheer space masterfully with the time cost, and unlike say ED or NMS also with details and iconic places.
Eve is too much power to people, SC keeps the power firmly in hands of the unforgiving world (1 player Vs 10 NPCs etc).
You are the hero concept is laughable for any mature player. CR rejects that.
I enjoy the direction of Star Citizen a lot. 😊

  3. It's wise to remember they are building a complete game engine, a metric ton of assets, and various systems to make all that viable (i.e. the server meshing thing they are working on) and once they are satisfied with SQ42 and SC being in their respective full release states (updates and expansions not counted) that they could let people use the engine and tools they've made to make similar or completely different games. Think about it, popping in a single planet the engine. And if the right people get ahold of the tools they could turn that entire planet into a completely crazy playspace. Imagine for example Planetside decided to make a third installment. Instead of a single big map they could actually have a whole planet at war. So not only is it goal post moving, if they actually allow others to use the engine and tools it would be industry shaking.

  4. The problem is, you need the long traveltimes, specially when you can build your own bases. You dont want them on your doorstep every 5min. Because the traveltimes are so short. This isnt a cod game.

  5. As gamers we have the opportunity to see and enjoy what 21st century gaming will be like before we die, with the opportunity that Chris Roberts' project offers, we have no other alternative.

At almost 41 years old, I decided that what I had been spending on games every year since I discovered it, I would invest with SC, with the opportunity to break out of the loop we have been trapped in by the game industry and its investors, who only think with the maximum benefits and the minimum costs so that later, even if they have a good memory, they end up burning the titles in a corner, it is the only viable alternative to go out and continue to expand the experience.

  6. Very constructive perspective dude. Chris Roberts and CIG are innovative and its insane what they are achieving. There are no rules in regards to true creativity. There is no right or wrong way to do what they're doing. Yes they make huge marketing errors sometimes, but in order to build something like this they have to be pretty ruthless in terms of decision making. It's a good way to put it with space being the main character. Just like a real universe, we are all just along for the ride. Great video man!

  7. I didn't know your channel until now, and I have to say I'm really impressed by your analysis of what SC does that sells the scale of space so well, as well as your points about it being a sandbox MMO. These are things that we all felt but it's very interesting to be able to understand better how and why they feel like they do.

Regarding the second half of the video, about CIG's position for making the ultimate space game. My 10 years backer anniversary is coming very soon, and ever since it started to look like CIG was going to have something close to a AAA budget for SC, I have been saying that what's happening here is very unique and very rare. Like you said, I don't see any traditional public traded company taking the risk of funding a project that needs so much money and time. But CIG doesn't only have time and money, they have time and money independence, if that makes sense, they have the support of a dedicated community that understands what they're set out to do, and they are led by someone who has got a passionate and uncompromising vision, and the guts to keep it uncompromised to see it come to fruition. This is something that never happened in the history of the industry, certainly not at this scale, and I think we are very lucky that it is happening at all. I'd argue that is it pretty unlikely that it will ever happen again, at least not unless a dramatic shift happens in the was the gaming industry works.

  8. A lot of outside folks genuinely thought SC was JUST another "space dogfighter" and weren't aware of it involving anything technically special. From that perspective, yeah, the dev time and costs WOULD seem absurd. But now…😎

  9. SC will pull people into sims and MMOs who hadn't been involved before. I know because I was one such person, back in 2017. It's SO appealing that you want to engage it in whatever form it's taken.

  10. I never understood where people were complaining about travel times on trains being 20+ minutes,.. they’re bullet trains… you’re on it for like 45 seconds if that lol.

I feel like a lot of people are complaining over things they never experienced which is just making others get put off over things that don’t exist.
