  1. Ooh imagine almost 20yrs of tory austerity, privatising everything, preventing people from owning their own home, taxing them into poverty whilst enriching their rich mate and not funding infrastructure, cripples military power…

  2. UK never fought a fair fight. It only bullied smaller, less capable countries, historically and present. There's a saying, gentlemen don't fight face to face, they only back stab.

  3. It is almost like prioritizing free education, free healthcare, and robust migrant support might mean that things like defense get elft by the wayside..
Its ok, I am sure being a vassal to the US hits the same as being the global power they used to be.

  4. There is no real shortage of men wanting to join either. A lot of it is because of corruption, so many people try to join but have to jump through so many hurdles over a long period that they just find another job. It’s capitas fault.

Look at the French Foreign Legion also, you can get in it within a day. Not over a year in some cases.

Also stuff like going to school graduation days with army signups, sending letters to houses, it’s little stuff like that.

  5. The greed of those in govt since the 80’s has stolen from the people their pride, their money and their security. The only ones benefitting are them and their mega rich pals. Introduce a wealth tax (an I’m talking serious wealth – those with assets of £10m+) and we can fix our problems in a decade. But we all know their out for themselves and if tshtf them and theirs will bugger off to the safety of the americas

  6. The quality of the force, the morale and ability to strike with combined arms is the measure if it. Russia had a lot of men and material to last about 6 hours when they invaded toward Kiev. After those tanks and trucks and APC ran out of gas it was over, the lucky ones made it back to Russia and fled to the west.

  7. There is no way the British Army can achieve 72,500. I know I’m in that number as are many of my comrades, the government is going to get the same F U that they gave us, if they ask us to come back.

You can’t beef up special forces if they don’t have a pool to pull those troops from. Remember everyone in the British Army is primarily an infantryman. I believe you must have served 3 years before you can apply for SAS selection and most that apply for selection fail. And I don’t care how many special forces you have they are not going to be able to take on some task (a SAS regiment isn’t going to take on a tank squadron).

It’s not at risk of become a shell of its former self, it is a shell of it’s former self. Every tank crew would need to train 4-5 tank crews just to get the armored Corp back to strength. The same goes for every other branch.

  8. Who does Britain need to rearm against? Certainly not Russia or rearmament and recruiting would have started years ago. But the government knows Russia is not a threat to Europe as a whole only Ukraine and they have already lost and by next year that will be an end to war in Europe. Unless Poland wants to start something.

  9. Britain doesn't have numbers to fight a war… merely 100000 troops isn't capable to stand major wars…hence in war game scenario, Britain is Going to loose to Russia along with NATO, if Russia, China ,North Korea as well as Iran open their fronts

  10. Britain should be the NATO unsinkable aircraft carrier, thus invest in multi role fighters and warships to protect the UK islands from amphibious assault. I think those deciding are still fearful of a Dunkirk kind of scenario in Europe.
