Is Temtem Dead in 2024? | The Fall of Temtem?

This is a topic that warrants revisiting in 2024, especially given the recent announcement that Temtem will no longer be supporting events, the temtem showdown client, World Championships, etc.

The game and its community has slowly been fading away and today we’re going to be talking about why that is and this is coming from someone with over 600 hours of play time who fell off after the full release.

  1. The temtem devs started teasing something on discord, after I put this video together. So far we don't know a lot, but some theories are that it may include overworld encounters, which tbh wouldn't bring many people back on its own, but others are saying that it might be this new game that was mentioned in the video, and perhaps it's part of the temtem universe, or at least a crossover promo like they do in COD when a new game is coming. Only time will tell, but I hope that it means the future for the franchise is bright, rather than dim.

  2. I've dabbled in both major aspects of the game (PVE/PVP) and I wanted to discuss a few points you made around pvp.

The whole pay2win concern is something I can get from the developer standpoint, although you're entirely right that it was a bit of a cop out- the insane prices they charge for cosmetics with effectively no content being added to the game, they could have at least attempted to add a few creatures every season or so. Also, the whole 'but it's cross platform! Concurrent players aren't accurate" Yeah we know it's not entirely accurate, but it paints a picture and we can make realistic assumptions to what the playerbase is like.

Not to mention certain members of crema refusing to budge on problems that nearly every player (from both major gameplay styles) agree is a problem. I do believe some of the balancing changes that are added are healthy for the game (Oceara losing water blade, vulffy losing sludge gift, etc.), although a lot of people voice complaints over losing tools. People voiced enough complaints to where the updates adjusting stuff also hurts PvP directly now, so no one is actually getting meaningful content anymore.

The game being insanely buggy since 1.4, and 1.5 being horrendous effectively killed the PvP playerbase due to crema not adjusting anything, and not looking for bugs and such.
There's so much more to talk about, but this unfortunate outcome is something Crema did entirely to themselves, and I hope they learn to improve from it. I doubt many people are going to return to games they create after the disaster that Temtem's life cycle was.

  3. Whenever I post any comments related to not being satisfied with or unhappy with their direction of things, my comments either get deleted or reported in some way lmao. Game had a lot of hype and potential. In the end they were just greedy and didn't listen to their fans. Game seems dead now. Can only hope they make something better or that other developers learn from their mistakes you know?

  4. I'm hoping after Crema finishes their Kickstarter promises they'll start focusing on new original content for Temtem like new Temtem's, islands, story, activities, etc. Can't wait to see what 2.0 brings.

Also, did you seriously highlighted that Temtem hating troll Jesse Gartung? Really? What's next? Verlisify? 0:35

  5. Starting with the infamous waves of BANS without justification (no negative feedback allowed and luma rates abnoxiously low made people grind the same spot for hours, than banned as "bots"), the lies about the state of ingame economy "oh its EA, will be balanced on release" BS premium currency and battle passes, the consistent arrogance and disdain toward the community members that aren't "yes men" and dare to say something else, the pvp obcession and wet dream of making it a tamer e-sport COME ON……. from Humbleness to Atrocious Arrogance, the perfect recipe to crash down and burn their reputation. Also Crema stop pitching it as a mmo……. thats false advertising. Its a single player game with tacked on co-op (kinda like dead space 3) and each island is a Glorified Lobby. That alone is lightyears aways from even being a barebones mmo……

  6. Idk what Crema doesn’t get that when you have a online only game/ mmo you have to be constantly pumping out content. The story was fun but after getting a few shiny I got bored quick

  7. Temtem takes the worst aspects of MMOs, the grindy and awful tactics to drag out as much player retention as possible. They leave out the best aspects of MMOs like extra content. They're going to milk the game until it's no longer profitable and they're not interested in anything besides that. Crema checked out a long time ago.

It really did and does have huge potential. The game could be so amazing if it were backed by a team that cared. Such a shame.

  8. This is so sad to hear. I played through Temtem with a buddy on Xbox and it was such a FANTASTIC co-op experience. Challenging and enjoyable the whole way through. They really missed the mark by forcing mmo/pvp…when I think the strength of it is a more challenging, co-op, story experience rivaling Pokemon.

  9. It's a shame. I haven't dug too deep into other monster taming games (due to limited funds and time), but I love so much about Temtem. The biggest things are the double battles, the stamina system, and (most importantly) the Temtem designs themselves. I haven't finished the game yet, but there has only been one design so far that I dislike. If this game was offline and had some kind of battle tower, it would have been perfect for me.
I am also looking into Monster Sanctuary and Monster Hunter Stories 2 because they also check those boxes, but Temtem was something special. I'll always be grateful for what it did for the Monster Taming genre.

  10. I fell off Tem Tem when my friend got banned. We were Luma hunting and he had the bright idea to bot for them. Crema could tell after only a few days that his character wasn't being controlled by a person. No amount of pleading on his end could get it revoked, even though he wasn't doing it to game the economy, or destroy in ranked, just to have some cool looking guys. But there's no real way to prove that, and it's still against the TOS. We'd played the game together since the very beginning of early access for like 2 years.

  11. The main problem with Temtem is that it's a multiplayer game. While it does have some features that use this fact, I think it would be a better game if the resources that were put into these features were instead used to make it a single player.

  12. I'm hoping when Kindred Fates drops it's going to a better overall experience by the end of it than Tem Tem was. It wasn't bad, but unless they add an offline mode I probably won't go back much if at all.

  13. As someone who just recently got to play it, I hope it gets either more content or another game. The script for some of the Temtem tamer bots is hilarious.
" You don't know your own name? That's stupid. Let's kick her ass! " 😂

  14. To be honest, I'll always hate that Temtem help to spread a lot of recent Pokémon rip offs. The genre has a lot to offer, but this games and others like Nexomon are Pokémon re-skinned, which usually does not work for me.
I hope that more games tried to do the things that Cassette Beast did instead of following Temtem's example.

  15. I have well over 2000 hours in temtem. The bloated end game has a bunch of different modes that let you battle for meaningless grinds. The PvP aspect of the game and Luma (shiny) hunting became the only real endgame. The game needs more real content, not reskinned modes of "Here something that isn't your team". The leveling of the game is the best part of it. -TemtemTebow
