We’re exploring South Korea’s impressive economic transformation, from an agrarian backwater to a global powerhouse. Home to internationally recognized companies and cutting-edge industries, South Korea is a fascinating case study for economists worldwide. In this video, we’ll examine the drivers of South Korea’s potential growth in the next decade, the obstacles that could undermine its entire economic system, and why this is all so important for the rest of us outside South Korea for our own economies. Then we’ll rank South Korea on the Economics Explained National Leaderboard.

  1. U forgot to mention
    1. psychological factors korean society is going through currently.
    2. Concentration of wealth Chebols. And employment they offer
    3. Education system, private coaching institutions problem.
    4. Military dependence on the US.

No doubt South Korea is a great nation. But without people with sound health conditions both mental and physical makes the nation great. With 0.8 birthrate, the nation ceases to exist. 2.1 is a must..

  2. This is true for most developed Asian countries…high cost means low birth rate. The government who wants to “fix” this aren’t really doing a great job. Either start implementing AI or face no worker for the future work force.

  4. you know why its such low birth rates? Because its TOO Expensive for common korean folks to take care of themselves. its just too difficult. plenty of resources and videos regarding this issue. Overworked and compensation low.

  5. I have seen the documentary about the Baby Box and there it was said that so many women are in a terrible situation after they’ve had kids. If they are single mothers, it’s a game of survival. With so few benefits and so little support for women, it is not surprising birth rate is down.
