A lot of people considering a trip to the Philippines wonder what it’s like to wake up in a floating, off-grid, over the water, eco-hut in a private lagoon off Coron island. Well, it’s incredible.
These houseboats are the only accommodations and restaurant in Coron Island. The island is a National Reserve, Marine Reserve, Unesco Biosphere Reserve and the Ancestral Land of the Tagbanua Tribe.
Paolyn Houseboats employs over 124 people, including many members of the Tagbanua Tribe.
But no trip to the Philippines would be legit without visiting Coron island. This uninhabited jewel is popular for eco-tourism, world-class diving, and seeing WW2 shipwrecks. It’s also a favorite spot among Filipinos themselves, so you know it’s good.
While there, we took a full-day, guided tour with 2 members of the island’s ancestral tribe, the tagbanua, so if you’re planning a visit yourself, this is the episode for you. Let’s jump in.

ABOUT US.
We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil’s ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week—from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.
Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline—it’s just the new, global way of life.
Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.
We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.

If it's not yet on your itinerary, Siquijor for its waterfalls and Oslob, Cebu for the swim with the whale sharks might also interest you. Mindanao offers a handfull of scenic waterfall experiences too.

. My Canadian friend treated me the most amazing Birthday ever this year. After 2 years of pandemic he managed to book our ticket to Manila then Coron and stayed at Paolyn boat ( their first house boat) closer to Twin lagoon and Barracuda) it was a big house boat and we’re 3 people occupied the whole house boat for 2days.
Your video reminds me all those wonderful and sweet memories. I’m glad to watch all your adventures in the Philippines❤️
Philippines land of paradises
Welcome to paradise! 🥰
NICE VIEW I NEVER BEEN THEREIN CORON ISLAND BUT I LIVE FIVE YEARS INPUERTO PRINCESA CITY BACK TO 1998 TO 2003
You should see the corals in the southern Philippines, particularly sta Cruz island in Zamboanga and malamawi. The best colorful corals in the world!
Be sure to check out the golden south sea pearls. Palawan is among the few places where these are harvested and can be bought below retail prices. Quite rare.
